    June 26, 2015,Obergefell v. Hodges.

This is the case that made gay marriage legal nationwide in America.

So, after 5 years of gay marriage. I would like to understand how gay people marrying has had a negative impact on the life of its opponents since that time.

So, opponents of gay marriage. How in the past 5 years has gay marriage had a DIRECT negative impact on your daily life?

    Ill wait.

I doubt there will be many takers on this one.

My life has been significantly improved by marriage equality. It’s has bolstered my ability to care for my loved ones. One of the few steps forward America has taken in the past decade.

So you think Barrett will vote as you feel?

    How about Gorsuch and Thomas?

Didn't effect me one way or the other. Don't have a problem with polygamy either, to each or their own.

I'm not sure I understand the question so I'll just say that no gay person has proposed to me, if they do I'll have that ring checked out.

That seems like the only way gay marriage could affect me, starting with having to divorce my wife of 32 yrs, which makes me a wee bit sad.

Because the ones that were actively against it, attacked and disparaged gay people, and think gay can be cured are now Trump supporters. So he wants to know how its affected their life now that the cats out of the bag. They are political opponents are they not?

Marriage as far as I am concerned is foremost a religious thing. The state can do what they want with legal marriage, I have no problems there, but each need to stay in their own lane.

Joy Reid has said more anti-gay stuff than republicans ever have. And gay marriage is kind of a big deal. It has been between a MAN and WOMAN since the beginning of time, so of course there was some opposition. Stop trying to make it partisan. there are plenty of gay republicans. Don't be ignorant! Think for yourself, not just what CNN tells you to think.

We've had many posts here talking about the 'illness' of homosexuality. And many against gay marriage. So I guess the question is for them...how has it negatively affected them since it became the law of the land.

The preface of opponents was clearly referring to opponents of marriage equality. Where does the supposed TDS come in with this OP exactly? I don’t see where Trump or even the right for that matter is mentioned.

those people now have a marriage certificate...i don't think it affected anyone except for the gay couples themselves that have some extra peace of mind. Satisfied?

I agree. I want the state out of marriage entirely. It should bestow no benefits other than the emotional statement of two peoples love.

There must be thousands of posts on this forum about gay marriage going back years. I know because I participated in some of them. And in all that time, I can't recall a single opponent making the claim that gay marriage would effect them personally or have a direct negative impact on their daily life. So why make a troll thread?

I still oppose gay marriage by the way, but I've never claimed it would have any effect on me personally.

Opponents to murder : how has murder affected your life negatively?

Opponents to clubbing baby seals : how has clubbing baby seals affected your life negatively?

Opponents to nuclear proliferation : how have nuclear wars affected your life negatively?

What a terrible argument. Just because something doesn't affect you personally doesn't mean it's not a problem.

Agree. I’m disappointed the gay community chose to subjugate themselves to the state. I wish we all would have joined them in a push to get the state out of all our personal business.

I never to know if they are husband and husband, wife and wife. Kept me up at nights. I would hate to be politically incorrect.

I was against gay marriage for fiscal reasons - survivor benefits extended to a wife who could not spend as much time on her career as her husband due to her raising children.
Marriage from ancient times was a protection mechanism for women to have right on inheritance.

So, while I never had anything against anyone’s sexual lifestyle, I did not think it’s wise to extend these costly benefits on couples that cannot naturally have children. Properly raising new generation is of direct interest to any nation, that’s why it makes sense for society to invest into it and help out a spouse who spent 20 years staying home raising future tax payers.

As for the impact - no one seems to be willing to do a research on this subject, but I’m willing to say that it’s a safe bet that our government spends more money now supporting couples who could never produce an offspring.

It has affected my life in the sense that it makes me feel human rights in America were expanded to include more Americans than before, & that's always a positive move. As a liberal, I'm seriously cognizant of expanding individual rights to those formerly denied them. That's a Biggy for me. Furthermore, those rights make gays happy, but don't hurt or damage anyone else in any way. It may prevent some religious conservatives from inflicting their personal bias against gays now like they used to, but that's a step in the right direction. It was that kind of religious extremism that the framing fathers were so concerned about that they included the First Amendment.

I have had friends murdered in cold blood. Def been affected.

I had relatives who participated in a lot of the testing that took place in testing the bombs at the Atol where they did that back during the war. We have a whole side of my family plagued by birth defects and cancer.

So, just two of your arguments have had a very personal effect on my life.
