AMEN! Have we reached the point that our national elections have to be monitored by international observers?

Of course that is nothing to do with Bush winning by one EC and in Florida Bush winning by 0.009% of the vote. Are you saying that 2020 is just as close?

The greatest mistake politicians make, "mandate"! When a little over half the country votes one in it merely means they won, not handed a free pass to run amok over the concerns and rights of the other half that didn't. Get 75% plus, a qualified "maybe".

This will end with a SC decision.

If it makes it way there, which isn't a given.

So using the courts to settle a dispute is a bad thing? Perhaps they should buy a phony dossier so a Special Counsel can be formed to constantly harass their political opponents?

I am sure Biden will make a phone call at some point. That is an impeachable offense.

No it isn't a given but if half the nation is being disenfranchised the SCOTUS will usually take a look.

He would have to prove to the lower courts that there was actual fraud and demonstrate that the federal has any juridiction in the election process over states. And do this before the certification and inauguration both of which are set in stone.

You mean like in 2016 when he got less votes than his opponent?

That is called an election but did anyone ask the courts to look at it?

I think being voted into office is a “mandate”. Never to run amok.
The strength of the mandate is debatable and varies depending on circumstances. But being elected is a mandate from the electorate.

As to your point about trampling on those who didn’t elect you - trump has demonstrated that is his approach. Biden certainly talks about being a president for those who voted against him.

Just as presently, it wasn't for the court to decide.

That will be very easy to prove. It's why Trump looks like a cool customer.

demonstrate that the federal has any juridiction in the election process over states.

This will be the hard part. All 50 states will be against federal intervention in one of their rights.

It will be as easy as confirming a SCOTUS pick before an election.

Except that Trump can't go directly to the SC on this matter. He has to go through each contested states court system first. Election are a per states system, not a federal one.

Hence the army of lawyers on the ground. Besides the POTUS can ask the SCOTUS to look at something.
