That is completely incorrect. Green energy (climate fear) is a religion not based on facts of any sort. Why the religion exists is apparently what Democrats do for fun.
Everything enjoyed by all Americans and most of the world are the results of using oil as our energy with Coal also included as vitally important. I have been waiting on the human being that can testify oil has never helped his success. I also am waiting on this magic human that changes climate. Must have a lot of talent. I want to meet one of the magic alarmist scientists as well hoping they can prove to me that over the past 150 years a change of Temperature means climate and that it harmed us in any fashion. They promise our cities will dip into the oceans. I have seen not one bit of evidence to support that alarmism. Seems the several inches of sea level rises has only caused man to put up defenses.
Well, for one thing, if you ever watched any of the shots from the Space Station, you saw the magic world of clouds. And clouds ward off sun rays. It is why the days it is cloudy you do not find it very hot. Can man hurt Earth? If he can, he better get cracking since to date man has not harmed Earth. Why do you see man as this SOB that goes out of his way to harm Earth?
Would you be so kind as to display to us even one, not two or three, but just one harm to Earth caused by this warming you blame humans for? Can you name any of millions of good things we have due to the use of fossil fuels? Man for eons used dung as fuel. Was that good for man or Earth?
I do not recall ever saying economics among nations is zero sum and wonder why you said that to me? Can you recall any time that Trump took this nation into war?
Read some science journals & look at the climate graphs. There's plenty of evidence that global warming is affecting the planet. It's already forcing Pacific islanders to leave islands inhabited for centuries. Six of the last 10 years have each broken the world record for hottest average temperatures for that year, including 2020. What kind of evidence are you waiting for? What kind of evidence are you open to?
I recommend you look into flooding of coastal Florida for a starter. Also, read about Pacific islanders loosing their island homes due to ocean sea level rises. It's happening now. You may not be affected by flooding caused by global warming depending on where you live. But you WILL be affected by global warming. Everyone will. We're still in the early years. It will continue & get much worse unless we wake up.
Biden isn't against fracking altogether, but does see the need to limit it more than it is now. I'm more liberal than Biden, & I want it stopped altogether. I want fossil fuels gradually decreased to zero usage over the next decade or so. I want to be totally green in our energy production ASAP--& that means by 2050 at the most. I don't understand why anyone would oppose cleaner energy. Why would anyone argue in favor of keeping energy sources that pollute our air & water, & cause global warming? That makes no sense.
1. Global warming affects the flow of atmospheric & oceanic currents, which is changing local climates & affecting residents in those areas. For example, California is becoming both hotter & drier. They just recently went thru the longest, most extreme drought in their history as a state. Then, just a handful of years after it ended, it started again. That's causing these more extreme fires that are consuming whole towns--like Paradise--which until this decade, were never before endangered. 2. Yes, of course. Many of our daily products are made of plastics that are based on petroleum products. They make our lives more interesting, & less expensive, but unfortunately they have a hidden cost that we've only recently become aware of. It's kind've like smokers enjoying their smokes for decades only to learn the hidden cost of that fun was cancer. I am not comfortable giving up all the wonderful products coming from the oil industry--inclulding my vehicle--but what do we gain if in our selfishness, we kill the planet for our children & their children? 3. No. It was based on carbon--a fossil fuel. But it was used in such limited quantities it probably had little impact on climate. Today, our automobiles, factories, & industries fill our air & oceans with toxic waste--much of it gases--that cause global warming or threaten the extinction of many animal & plant life forms.
When you consider the way Trump removed American troops from an active battlefield, abandoning our allies, the Kurds, to their fate, It's probably a good thing for our remaining allies, that Trump didn't involve them or us in another war.
It's not going to kill the planet. Not even a little bit. In past ages the climate used to be far hotter than what it is now, or even 100 years from now if things keep as they are. And life thrived. And humans weren't even around then. Biden might not be for getting rid of it all. (I'm not so sure after his last debate where he admitted to wanting to get rid of it all) but there are those like you who do want to get rid of it all. And he will be under pressure.
You ARE aware petroleum is used to create damn near everything in our world in some way? A partial list of products made from Petroleum (144 of 6000 items) Solvents Diesel fuel Motor Oil Speakers Plastic Wood Electric Blankets Tennis Rackets Rubber Cement Fishing Boots Nylon Rope Candles Trash Bags Water Pipes Hand Lotion Roller Skates 31 more rows Products made from petroleum | Ranken Energy Corporation
Yes, I'm aware. I'm certainly not suggesting that weening us from the petrol industries will be easy or painless. But that industry has pushed us into the throw-away society we've become. Perhaps its replacement will lead to products that have a longer life span & therefore less waste. Certainly, it will be better for the environment we all live in.
And the changes will be far more than just historical, we are dealing with them now, in the present. The current hurricane season is just one example. Sea level rise, conservative mythmaking notwithstanding, is threatening countries like Vanuatu and Bangla Desh. These bad things and many others are becoming more and more pronounced day by day and we are already unable to just lie them out of existence, the standard Conservative/Trumpist answer to everything. Storms cost all of us money and lives and sea level rises have historically caused wars as people are forced into already overcrowded areas It is not hyperbole to say that we will almost certainly all suffer greatly if we do not act now and yet we continue to act as if the convenience of the fossil fuels industry is worth continual and immediate disaster for all of us. This makes no sense, either moral OR economic that I can see.
So, what about countries that can no longer sustain their population because of global warming? Will champions of those threatened with death on a huge scale take steps to pressure richer countries to accept immigrants? How might they apply pressure? One option would be to create a deadly airborne virus and threaten to loose it on countries refusing help. Another option, perhaps more viable, would be to use nanotech to punish populations in rich, healthy nations. The knowledge of how to weaponize nanotechnology and biotechnology is here today and the availability of the resources necessary for non-state actors to use it are increasing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanotechnology_in_warfare https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_warfare I'm not saying biotech and nanotech weapons will be used, but they are a threat.
You may have overlooked a possible connection between weaponizing biotechnology, and especially nanotechnology, and global warming. Climate change refugees may not be willing to die quietly.
We should be thinking about using nuclear power to generate electricity, and then switching to electric vehicles and electric homes.
