The main fear with the Juan De Fuca is the tidal wave. It happens about every 250 years and it's way over do. The people living along the coast will have only about 10 minutes to escape the wave, so what they are doing is building towers for people to run into.

I watch Dutchsinse on youtube since he seems to know more than the geologists about when and where an earthquake will hit - and they hate him for it. He's the one that noticed that hot spots were showing up on the satellite images before fires would break out, and that they were usually around volcanic fields.

About 2 months ago, there have been hot spots showing up in the Northwest and also surprisingly along the New Madrid fault. It's believed that North America was meant to split along the fault, but since there weren't any quakes for a long time, it was assumed the split had closed. Two months ago hot spots began appearing.

In 1812, the quakes went on for 6 months and the Mississippi River ran backwards. A town sunk and became a lake. The area though wasn't populated at the time, but today there is Saint Louis, Memphis, Little Rock, Nashville, etc.

The reason I'm mentioning it is because someone said that troops were being sent to the New Madrid and to the Northwest which means the geologists are taking notice.

Everything you said about the Pacific Northwest is consistent with what Dr. Brian Atwater has been saying since the 1980's. The tsunamis will cause a lot of the deaths and damage, but don't underestimate what will happen when Mt. Rainier finally blows (the ice-caves near the 5-headed summit have been melting for several years now, and not because of "global warming", either.

And you are quite right about the horrific earthquakes that struck the 'boot-heel' area of Missouri in 1812. There were three monster quakes altogether and they reportedly did cause even the Mississippi River to run backward (uphill) for a while!

I had not heard about "Dutchsince" on YouTube, however, but you can bet that I will head on over there very soon....

**** Update **** I found Dutchsince on YouTube and have subscribed. Thank you for the information!

Yes, I saw the whole series "Babylon Berlin" ... and others with a similar theme. is really well done ...
Another good series is "Generation War" ... German title is "Unsere Muetter unsere Vaeter" (our mothers our fathers) :)

Of course, the archconservatives ultimately convinced President Hindenburg to make Hitler Chancellor and thus bring the Nazis to power, because the election results ended in a dead end. Yes, these reckless people seriously believed they could control Hitler, etc. ... was a very nasty and predictable mistake. But especially in terms of the election campaign and the arguments, as well as the "how", Hitler and Trump are very similar, because both masterfully used the system of so-called populism and demogogy.
You write it yourself ... many in the USA demanded "we want our country back", coupled with a false and glorified view of the past where everything was supposedly much better according to the motto "the good old days". Such nostalgia seldom holds up if you take a closer look.
But there must be guilty parties for the fact that someone has apparently taken their land. Of course the always bad political class, paired with terms like Deep State and other nonsense ... but that's not enough. There must be more and other guilt and then you quickly end up with groups that can be made scapegoats.
In such a situation, Donald Trump comes along and speaks to these people from the heart by making their worries and arguments his own .. plays the savior in need and also quickly finds the scapegoats like the illegal immigrants who do so to be held responsible for everything bad and from which one the USA has to protect with a wall etc. and other minorieties to blame for and also spreading lies around which are wanted to believe as true ...

    And Hitler?
In Germany there was a collective hatred of the Versailles Treaty, in which Germany was given sole war guilt and which from a historical point of view is indeed not true, because it was not Germany alone. The military was castrated to a level that was ridiculous for the time, where 3 or 4 larger US National Guards are enough to wipe it out within 2 weeks and also huge compensation payments, etc.
Against this, of course Hitler and pretty much everyone else in Germany cursed ... but Hitler also openly attacked the political system itself, with astonishingly the same accusations regarding the corrupt political class, deep state etc. ... and he also made the minority of the Jews responsible for everything. Equally and importantly: He also violently attacked the financial system with the stock exchanges etc. ... but until the stock market crash he wasn't really taken seriously. But after that ... because wasn't it he who had warned about this and the evil consequences? So he told at least the truth and so people start to believe the complete crap he told ... So at least Hitler made all the fears, anger and themes to his own one too and used them to get in power!

Much comparable and similar ... but that doesn't just apply to Trump / Hitler! No ... there are many others who use these principles and what is called populism.

If the USA withdraws as far as possible and goes back into self-isolation, then of course a power vacuum will arise that other great powers or local powers want to and will fill. That will certainly not be to the advantage of the USA and I will also deny whether the USA can care less.
Of course, the US's interference in local conflicts has often fueled them and allowed them to escalate. Iraq is a good example of the utter incompetence and arrogance of the US that often happens in the process. But Afghanistan also clearly shows the inability and incompetence. Nothing spoke or spoke against the post-9/11 campaign against Al Qaeda and the Taliban, but why has nobody really been able to conquer Afghanistan in the past 2,000 years?
No, the US is of course different and that is therefore irrelevant ... that was the attitude of the US under Bush Jr. and no one disagreed. The Tliban were even ready to surrender honorably at the beginning of 2002 and the USA would have come out of the Afghanistan shooting gallery wonderfully ... but no, they refused to accept the capitulation because the few ragged guys are not worth it. Bad mistake as we all know, but that was already clear then!

The US has actually invested countless billions of dollars in foreign states ... often for good and also sensible, but just as often for evil and bad. Take all the billions with which various regimes, "El Presidentes", other dictators and all the like were brought to power and / or kept in power by the USA and against the will of the people and against all American core values like Freedom, Democracy etc.
In this context, the often-used American justification of "it was the cold war" is simply wrong and lame. If the US supports the dictator, who else should the oppressed people turn to with a request for help, if not to the other faction based in Moscow, eh?

It is correct that Europe was completely in ruins after the Second World War and that it was only with the massive help of the USA that it was ultimately possible to restart and rebuild - keyword Marshall Plan!
BUT (!!!!) ... surprisingly few Americans know that the many billions of dollars were not a donation but a loan from the USA AND that everything had to be repaid by the Europeans and was repaid!
The USA also cemented its supremacy with many privileges and influence in Western Europe, which the Europeans had to and was recognized. Amazingly few Americans know that too ...

However, it all ended in American aid in the late 1950s / early 1960s. After that, what you mention about infrastructure and modernization was not what the americans did, nor was it financed with american money (except when US companies invested, but then it was a normal business act like any other).

Just a little trivia. US Naval Ammunition Ships are named after volcanos like Mt Hood and Mt Rainier. I did a tour on two of them and the USS Rainier AE-5 was one of them. My first day at sea we were watching a movie on the mess deck and all of a sudden I heard a large crash below decks and I turned to a sailor sitting to me and asked "what was that". "Oh! Some ammunition may have broke loose", he replied. He was right. Spent four years waiting for the great big flash as it was a pretty routine thing. ....and people asked me why I drank? Bombs Away.

I have "Generation War" on DVD! My German is good enough to follow the dialog... mostly... it goes by pretty fast at times, but there are English subtitles to help. It is an extraordinary work, indeed.

Back on topic, I can't really compare a second-rate 'ventriloquist's dummy' like Obama with a strangely powerful, highly-energized, and wholly-deluded character like Adolf Hitler.

Based on all that he said and DID during his eight years in the presidency, I doubt that Barack Obama would recognize a valid 'threat to Democracy' if it bit him on the ass! Obama's "pen-and-phone" autocracy spoke eloquently, and horrifyingly for itself....

[IMG]. "'A pen and a phone'? Is this what Americans thought was so damned wonderful...?"

Trump is the most authoritarian, anti-democracy president in history. He has been undermining the public's trust of American Democracy since he took office. "The only way democrats can win is if they rig the election" Trump said, and he said it long before the first ballot was cast. Those are the words of a dictator wannabe. Trump said "The press is the enemy of the people". Those are the words of a fascist wannabe.

Let me explain something to you, Trump, a man who squelched the health care of his grand-nephew ( who has cerebral palsy) out of vengeance to spite his deceased brother's estate who are suing him because he cheated them out of their just share of Fred Trump's inheritance, is not a man who gives a rat's ass about democracy.

    WTFU.

In short, that you've been bamboozled into believing that by way of right wing mind manipulators is proof of the opposite.

I think the better solution is just to get rid of republicans. They hate government. Would you hire someone who hated your business? No! Then why in hell should we hire people who hate governing? Let them go back to the private sector, where they belong, and let those of us who believe in good government run government.

There is no policy proposal by Dems that is not the ultimate result of voters voting, we are the pro-democracy party, hence the name 'democrats' comes from 'democracy'. In fact, there are a few republicans on this forum giving the argument that America is not a democracy.

I mean, Republicans hate democracy, and evidence of that is the fact that they gerrymandered every district they control such that, in order for a democrat to win, he or she has to get bout 15% more votes than a republican. In the south, republicans closed over 1000 voting poll places to create long lines in order to demoralize voters to discourage them from voting.

Don't give me your drivel about 'dems not for democracy' when the evidence point to the fact that it is Republicans who HATE democracy, because when more people vote, they vote more for democrats than republicans. So, in order to win, they resort to cheating, and then they have the gall to claim 'democrats stole the election' when Trump is trying to get state legislatures to set aside the popular vote and install his own electors? Give me a frickin' break.

I can agree with everything, but only after progressives stop pushing their unconstitutional policies
To me whoever is against constitution is much worse then someone who is labelled as "wannabe dictator".
