Not nearly as many per capita as most red states. In fact red-staters often ridicule "liberal" healthy diets.

Just say the word "kale" in a Southern State and you might get shot.

Is that why y'all so hot to take our guns, so you can safely eat kale and tofu?

It seems that many of these vaccines act 70% to 95% effective. They have not been mentioned that they are 100% effective. We should have hope for 100%.

90% is more than sufficient. No vaccine is 100% effective.

The far greater challenge is convincing people to get the vaccine. When 40% of the population says they won't get it [certainly the vast majority are red staters], the efficacy of the vaccine doesn't matter.

These are mainly the same people who won't wear masks, go apesht over a lock down, ignore social distancing guidelines, and reject science.

Apparently some hospitals have already been forced to refuse service to people like heart attack patients, because they have no beds or personnel to help them.

As one doctor recently stated, soon we will be seeing people dying from Covid in hospital waiting rooms.

Yep, and that was always the problem. The boffins knew back in March that the greatest threat was a collapse of healthcare systems.

These anti-maskers have focused all their ire on the best-case scenario of the illness itself, and ignored the fact that it's a numbers game. With something this contagious, numbers are everything.

It is insanity. But I suspect that before this is over, a lot of trump lovers will either be dead, they will have killed a family member or friend, and they will magically discover science somewhere between the hospital and the cemetery. .

Heck, South Dakota may lose 1% of its population or more.

It's very sad. Wisconsin is talking about rationing care - do they help emergency patients or all the COVID patients.

How horrible to be the person at the hospital who has to tell the wife of a car accident victim that there's no room at the Inn.

Scary stuff, but at least our freedom to not do the things is strong.

This country would have gone down the tubes if this was the attitude of Americans during WW II. Back then, it was considered Patriotic duty to do the things.

    Sigh.

And that's just from COVID. Wait 'til they find out their compound leg fracture won't be treated because there's no room at the inn.

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really

want to be wrong about this.

Fingers crossed the "it's nothing," crowd is right.

Hospital workers are pleading; I hope they are exaggerating.

We should have some videos if it is true.
I could not find one that would clearly show overwhelmed hospitals.
Actually, I live by the hospital and it looks empty.

The one here is as well. I had to go for an xray and what should have been two periods of waiting turned out to be a walk through. Headlines seem to match DNC needs.

I wonder why right wing news sources are not reporting it.
Maybe it just doesn't fit their narrative?

There are 88,080 people currently hospitalized with Covid-19, setting a record for hospitalizations amid a continuing fall surge, according to the Covid Tracking Project. his is the highest number of Covid-19 hospitalizations the nation has ever experienced since the pandemic hit the US. Hospital systems around the country have been warning their staffing and ICU bed capacity are being stretched thin. Pennsylvania's top health official warned Monday the state could run out of ICU beds within a week.

Xray? So you didn't head for ICU, then? Or Acute Care? Or the Respiratory Ward?

Here's a idea, next time you have to go into your local hospital for some minor, walk-in, walk-out procedure (or you know someone else who is going to). Just ask the nurse/doctor etc one simple question. Something like 'Oh BTW, just out curiosity, do you know if COVID is taking up lots of bed space/resources here or in other local hospitals?'

You'll get a simple yes or no answer. Job done.

I suppose you want me to come back here and tell you? Why don't you just do your own survey. I'm very familiar with that hospital and it's a ghost town.

Why don't you let us know the name of this "ghost town hospital"?

There may sick people who can go there instead of dying at the ER parking lot!

Those that don't wear the masks as they should, won't care if they catch the pandemic. whether they get it or not.
