I really like this one. You can actually feel that cold draft of air....

Keep at it as a hobby - if you start having to do it, it looses some of it's sparkle.

Both my parents were artists, they went to Pratt Institute in NYC. None of us kids followed suit, at least in the same medium. My oldest brother went into healthcare, my sister did beautiful stained glass work, other brother did carpentry and historical recreation, and I dabbled in residential architecture as a hobby.

This time last year, we were on a cruise for our 10th anniversary. We got off the ship about 10 days before Japan told the Diamond Princess they couldn't disembark.

We got sick in early March, and by the time we felt better, my husband's company had told everyone to work from home.

We've not done much, since. Mostly errands and medical adventures.

We're starting to go a little stir crazy. The 22 year old went from being here to sleep, shower & grab food, to being here 24/7. My husband went from being out of the house for work every day, to being here, 24/7.

We've booked two nights at the Hard Rock that's about 20 miles from us, for our 11th anniversary. Every chair at every table is separated by plexiglass. No housekeeping service and temperature checks and masks required, everywhere.

I think it will do a world of good for us to get away. We are frequent travelers; we usually go on several trips / year, even if they are just staycation overnights.

The only lions, tigers, and bears that serve and protect human beings live in Oz.
The Presa Canario, like many other very dangerous dog breeds have served and protected human beings throughout our recorded history.

Sounds like willful, reckless negligent homicide on the part of the owner. IMO, very severe punishment was appropriate.

First degree murder would be a hard sell for the kind of juries selected for criminal trials these days.

    “First Degree Murder: Definition
In most states, first-degree murder is defined as an unlawful killing that is both willful and premeditated, meaning that it was committed after planning or "lying in wait" for the victim.”

Caning would have served as a far better deterrent, and saved $millions.

So, let me get this straight - they let a psychotic murdered get away with it and set him free to kill again?
    What happened to the dog?

Both. Which is not to say that the 20 year sentence does not violate the principal of equal justice.
Excessive punishment for a heinous crime, whenever that happens, is better, IMO, than letting the perps walk.

I agree, my business has made me reasonably well off so I don't need the money and while its flattering to have someone pay money for your work the down sides are many.
What if you do an exhibition and no one buys, how do you feel then and the constant need to paint subjects people want or to develop a style etc.
I am in an art group and I do a couple of week art holidays a year where its nice to mix with other artists.

You dabble in residential architecture? Do you mean as a designer or something different?

My sympathies here, my wife and I like to travel and usually go away 4 or five times a year, we got locked down in Gran Canaria in March, you were very lucky to have got off the Diamond Princess, that was ghastly.
Both our boys are grown up and moved out, but I'm now working from home and going stir crazy as we normally see friends or family every weekend.
Fortunately my wife is an angel and still laughs at my pathetic jokes:D:eek:
Have a good break and keep yourselves safe!

In my mind I go on vacation.. in my memory thinking about places we have been and might go again. My daydreaming is working overtime.

It is immaterial whether they serve to protect humans, The connection is that these dogs were as dangerous as tigers and should have been treated as being as dangerous as tigers.
I wont answer the same point again.

Are you suggesting we kill people with mental issues? You're on your own there friend.
And BTW he didn't commit murder so why would he kill again.

We weren't on the Diamond. That just started 10 days after we got home.

Yes, I'm an angel and still laughing at my nerdy husband's jokes. I did ask his mother about the return policy last night, though. ;) Apparently there isn't one?

Us to, but we've burnt out our daydream machine, we have booked so many things and then cancelled them so we're stopping now for a while.
We have a week booked in the Canaries at the end of March, but they just cancelled the flights :(

Objectively, the dogs are not as dangerous as "lions, and tigers and bears" - not even close.

Actual architecture - structure and layout. I was all set to go to school for it when I let someone talk me out of it.

I took 4 courses of mechanical drawing/architecture in two years back in high school, and I was hooked.

The house we built in Pennsylvania was built on plans I drew. You didn't have to have the plans sealed back then. :)

I was a drafter for a mid-level company before I quit to become a teacher. I'm a bit rusty but I could still design stuff if I need to. For some unexplained reason, I ended up doing a lot of kitchens the last couple of years I was there. Like the company wanted me to specialize in them or something. I guess if anyone needs a kitchen designed I'm your man.

I've become reasonably decent at digital art the past few years and I discovered I can draw a bit thanks to a bunch of classes although I'm not inspired at it.

I owned a kitchen supply company for about 20 years before I invented my current business. Did quite a bit of design mostly on Turbocad.
What program do you use for your digital art? My son plays with Blender.

I use Blender, Photoshop, and Firealpaca. There's a few others I play around with, but those are the big three I use the most.
