What made the Trump saga suspenseful was the nervous anticipation of whatever outrageous chaos he might create next. But he was only capable of sustaining that interest in his antics...because he had a certain amount of power as President. Now that he is back to being a simple con-man...don't see much he can do to draw attention the way he used to.

It was cheap to produce, which was good, because it was hard space to sell. Then the Reagan Administration let it be known that the “Fairness Doctrine” which had been an informal process, would no longer apply. Suddenly, radio stations and networks were no longer burdened by the obligation of presenting balanced political opinion. And Limbaugh was the right ex disc jockey at the right time. He grew up in the cradle of Midwestern plain folk, not too far from the deep south either. He grew up with the same sort of ritual nationalism that exists everywhere, the isolationism, and anti intellectualism that has always been present in midwestern and southern small town and rural America. And his Archie Bunker like message rang true to the blue collar working class folks in dying mill towns. He played this audience like a violin. And he quickly found influence in his ability to turn a large, almost exclusively white and right wing audience at will.
