The other party has gone far right weirdo land. US Democrats are still center right compared to Europe.

Screw them, get this popular/needed stuff through. Next up Election reform.

Taxing the taxpayer first and then giving him/her aid from said tax dollars is quite inefficient and gives politicians too much control. Just give the taxpayers a tax break - letting them keep their own money instead of having to beg to get a little bit back.

We tried that, the rich always seem to benefit way more and figure out how to make their tax breaks permanent while it is temporarily for everyone else. It also doesn’t help the unemployed…

Ah, like the last two SCOTUS seats and virtually everything Republicans did for the last four years.
Since this is illegitimate because there is no bipartisan support does that mean you believe the impeachment was bipartisan and the opposition to it was partisan?

They should max out at a reasonable number that takes into account the cost of living.
$2000 in Alabama is a few months rent for a family of five.
$2000 in California is one months rent for a single bedroom.

But that would never fly, red states would throw a fit even though blue states contribute much more.

Wait. Trump wanted 2000 checks, Biden is getting them the 1400 missing.

trump supporter. 3rd world countries is what they have been going for.
That's why they wanted to stop real election results. And do away with the will of the people.

Here's the deal on the relief. If they gave it all to the American people, every man, woman, and child would receive over $5,000 each!

However, it is filled with Democratic Party bull crap so they can get massive donations in return. When you have zero support from the other side on what is labelled a "relief bill" you should be worried about what else the Democrats packed in there.

It's an abomination as over 2/3 of the money will not go to the American People. The bastards that do this to the nation suck.

I too don't need the extra $1400. I and my wife been working full time this whole covid time. We haven't lost income and don't need the extra money.
    Give it to the unemployed.

Too bad the R's didn't think about that when they had the power last month. LOL. The hypocrisy is thick.

They didn't have the power last month. There's this body called the House of Representatives and they held up all real relief on purpose, by loading the bills with ridiculous Democratic Crony Payoffs and Election Insanity. Your revisionism is duly noted.

The Democrats just gave 2/3 of the Money to their cronies and 1/3 of the money to the American people.... and a bunch of dopes are celebrating it. How pathetic can the Left get?

LOL. It wasn't that long ago. The House wanted $2000/person checks. Just like the former president did.
The Senate didn't take it up and pushed through $600.

How do you not remember a month ago?

They're negotiating. You'll have to do better then ten Senators offering 1/3rd of the proposed bill.

No. They are not negotiating. The Democrats will pass on a 100% partisan basis an ENORMOUS spending bill that rewards their cronies and the failed states like California and New York. Only 1/3 of the money will actually go to the people in need. It's already a done deal.

I agree with this in principle, but the size of the stimulus is key. Timing is, as well. If Congress can get all the money to those who need it, quickly, then that's something I'd support. The Republican proposal of $600 billion will prolong the recovery. $1.9 trillion is what's needed.

You must be referring to the Thousunds of terrorists that rioted and burned down buildings over the summer or maybe you mean the few hundred people that were violent at the Capitol?

There is always two sides unless you are a liberal living in a liberal bubble and can only see the wrong doings of the side you don't like.

Trump offered that 1.9 trillion back in December. I'm glad you actually agree with Trump on something.

And the Republicans in Congress DIDN'T. But that's what this thread is about, the Congress's reaction to Biden's plan; not Trump.

So, you think the money to states and municipalities doesn't go to people? Many of them lost revenue for no fault of their own, just like private businesses did. They'd have to lay off masses of people and cut benefits to cover for the losses, because, unlike the Fed, they can't print money. So, why should businesses be bailed out, but not states and municipalities? Oh, I know why, because conservatives have an ideological axe to grind with states and local governments, and they WANT them to fail. Just like they WANT the federal government to fail. And then they pretend they are for the people....
