Brilliant. So, "Lincoln is dead"... really...?

New flash: so is Wilson; so is Frankie Roosevelt; so is Lyndon B. Johnson, etc.

Trump is as innocent is OJ

if the glove doesn't fit at trial, you must acquit

if the President is not President at trial, you must acquit

I can't disagree are the worthlessness of both parties.

But this was the most bipartisan impeachment in history.

    According to this.

While former President Donald Trump has been acquitted yet again in his second impeachment trial, a notable seven Republican senators found him guilty, making this the most bipartisan conviction vote ever.
    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...y-collins-murkowski-sasse-cassidy-burr-toomey

The historic event marks the first time in U.S. history that a president has been impeached twice, it is also the most bipartisan impeachment in history with all Democrats and 10 Republicans supporting the measure.

    Now, are they wrong? Maybe.

I haven’t read what he actually said. I thought I heard that he thought this could be more appropriately handled in a criminal court. But even there the standard is innocent until proven guilty. Does McConnell no longer believe in that foundational principle of the Constitution?

Your statement is false. The vote was 57 - 43. That is acquittal. It is FACT!

I cannot stand Trump, but this was nothing more than political theater!

I wish more would have put the country above Trump, but I am happy with this vote, this will now be in the history books and be a MEGA stain on Trump's legacy

I believe it was only 7 Republicans that crossed over. Two more than was expected.

No the Republican party took the biggest hit

Trump has been hiding behind the Presidency for 4 years

non-partisan Acquittal in his 2nd impeachment is a political statement

too bad Mitch didn't take advantage of this to strengthen the Republican Party ........... now they are in for a weakened and chaotic party

Next for Trump are untold number of charges related his actions in business, election tampering without any ways to hide anymore

Trump didn't age from being President ( he didn't take it that seriously ) but the next year will be a toll on him

And apparently whenever they like, in office or out of office, so, let's try to impeach him again, next year!

Clearly Trump's splendid legal team badly overmatched the witless House Managers led by Eric Swallowswell (Banger of Fang). Once again the Constitution we all revere and t3he sacred legal principles at the heart of our country stood tall and prevailed.

We cherish our Constitutional Republic and the bedrock it is founded on; the impartial rule of law, the indispensable safeguard for our liberties, our rights and our freedoms.

Sadly, Authoritarian Democrats have taken to denigrating the rule of law, defaming law enforcement, cheering mobs, excusing rioters, and transforming justice into a tool of political vengeance, to persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. Donald The Magnificent and the Republicans will ALWAYS be the champions for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.

Just one Senate Republican up for reelection in 2022, Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski, voted to convict Donald The Magnificent for freely expressing his constitutionally protected opinion. Two other Republicans who opted to no longer represent their constituents in the Senate after their current term is up, voted against the President, Toomey and Burr.

The other four turncoats were Cassidy, Collins, Pierre Delecto, and Sasse. Collins, given the state she represents, probably had no choice.

The rest of the GOP stands solidly behind Free Speech, Free Expression, Unbiased Rule of Law and are the sworn enemy of Authoritarian Left Wing Blacklists.

Who are the "radical Democrats" you're talking about? Most Democrats, like most Republicans, are moderates.

Anyway, Trump is about as popular as ants at a picnic.

Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. Are the ones who crossed over and should be considered Democrats and leftists. They all need to be removed by the voters in their states before they can do more harm. Since the Constitution doesn't mean anything to Democrats, then those states should allow for recall elections against those turncoats to the Constitution. Since they ignored the Constitution in this sham trial and impeachment by the House, there should not be any objection to recall them.

You will be shocked in the next Presidential Election when Trump gains victory again because of Biden and the Democrats running the country into the ground.

None of that means anything. Politicians are going to do what the political winds tell them to do. Stupid crap like this is why we are so divided. Trump is gone. They need to move on and do something useful instead of staying stuck in their anti-trump craze.

I like some of what Biden is doing, especially shutting tdown the keystone pipeline, but these stupid games they are playing show me they have zero interest in unifying the country.

Now, if Trump truly was trying to incite insurrection, he would have prevented the National Guard from responding, but, the House Managers never took any testimony from anyone to support that.

But, Senator Lindsey Graham, in response to threats by the crazed House Managers to drag out the trial and delay the exonerating vote, threatened to require the sworn testimony of HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI, and that he would require her to “to answer the question as to whether or not there was credible evidence of pre-planned violence before President Trump spoke? And whether it was Speaker Pelosi, who in fact refused requests by the Capitol Hill Police for additional resources like the National Guard.

At that point the House folded and promptly allowed the fully exonerating vote by the Senate that ended this Kangaroo Court.

If it's even really possible -- LEGAL or CONSTITUTIONAL (highly doubtful, really) -- then it's automatically a two step process! Now we've opened the door to ex-presidents, too. To repeat -- it's a TWO-STEP process. House-and-Senate!

Think: you can't be "a little bit" pregnant.... The process can be ended, but once it's begun, it's BEGUN.

Oh, hell... don't worry... nobody's going to go back and impeach Abraham Lincoln. Even the Republicans love that S.O.B., even though, hands-down, Lincoln was the absolute worst, most ruinous president in our history.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. On Monday, the entire country will be firmly-focused back on what your wonderful "Obama 2.0" is going to be like in the continuing drama of Joe Biden's presidency....
