A very logical solution to reparations

A very vocal group of radical democrats think the Fed Gov should pay reparations to black people, for what happen 160 years ago. As with most democrat schemes it is simply a vote buying deal for democrats using tax payer money. So what to do and what would be a FAIR AND LOGICAL solution?

I say the income tax form should have an extra line at the bottom where everyone that believes reparation is a great thing, they could add an extra amount to what they would pay in, and in would go to a reparation fund. That would be a FAIR AND LOGICAL solution. Those that think reparations are in order could pay in, and those of us that dont would not have to pay.

 

Works for me. How each spends their "earned" money is their business.

 

Africa needs to be accountable as well for selling slaves in the first place. If you are gonna beg for money for the events of 100s of years ago then at least go to the SOURCE

 

Sounds good but the problem is that other countries are laughing their arse off at how ridiculous the USA is. Well I should say how ridiculous the lefties are.

 

Golly I expected all those highly educated high paid liberals would be telling us how they would be willing to add thousands to their tax returns for reparations. Or are they just all talk and as usual just want the OTHER GUY to pay?

Notice nary a one thinks my logical suggestion is a good idea.

 

i am not a proponent of reparations. general sherman's plan should have been implemented in 1865 when acres were plentiful and mules were cheap, but the current value of those 40 acres spread over millions of people is probably trillions. budgetary concerns aside, there is a matter of fairness involved making those families who lost ancestors fighting to free the slaves pay reparations. many of our families were still in the old country in ante bellum days as well and, after arrival. endured conditions as bad as many slaves. .

but you need to reset your time frame from "160 years" to include more recent atrocities such as jim crow and red lining etc. i know that we can not force everyone to accept that we are all human, american, and citizens but we can certainly structure government and police to treat everyone with equal respect.

 

Well golly...maybe you haven’t heard from these “highly educated high paid liberals” because A) they don’t agree with reparations being paid or B) they have been busy doing other things than spending time on a forum on a Sunday and will reply when they get a chance.

We just gave millions to highly profitable businesses and individuals many of whom needed it like they needed ad hole in the head, did that bother you or is it just a race thing?

 

Giving money to ANYONE that dont need it is stupid. It is almost always used to buy votes. That is why we are some 20 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The same principle could be applied to trumps tax cuts for the rich. Just add a line at the bottom of the 1040 for republicans. Anyone making less than 5 million a year can pay for the tax breaks for those above 5 million a year.

This is actually a very good idea. If you are a white liberal / leftist, and you strongly believe in reparations, the implementation of this idea would satiate your perpetual white guilt. You can even tweet or livestream yourself giving your money away to all blacks, whether they were negatively affected by slavery or not, in the hopes that your cringeworthy virtue-signaling can boost enough social brownie points to let everyone know that you, in fact, are one of the good ones. It'd also let everyone know that you are putting your money where your mouth is.

But I'd add something else: since affirmative action, which is de jure systemic racism against whites, especially white men, is already a form of reparations, the same idea should be provided to high school and college-age white liberals. If you are a white liberal, especially a rich white liberal, and you are a high school student or a college student, you should have the option to put your name on a list, giving up your spot at all colleges and universities, especially Ivy League ones, to a minority, especially a black or Hispanic minority; and if you are a rich white liberal, perhaps a pledge to pay for their schooling, whether they graduate or not.

It absolutely is de jure racism against whites, especially white men. If you use race as a factor to determine who gets something or not--in this case, a spot at a university--that is a form of racism; and since this form of racial discrimination is on the books and is applied nationally by sanction of the federal government, it is a form of system racism.

 

Send the bill to the English, slave owners were Colonialist much longer then they were "self proclaimed Americans"! I believe Indians are the only true indigenous American..

So why should I pay/tax to Descendant of slaves when my lineage came to this country LONG after slavery was outlawed.. Fine the English and Spanish they were the biggest traders/transporters of slave's..

 

Equalizing things is not racism.

 

Making things more equal for the chosen few is racism.

Suppose you are half black and half white -- I guess you give money to yourself.

 

For a very long time (and even today) we are organized to make things less equal for a specific group.

WE made this problem. We perpetuated it for a couple hundred years.

Now what? You want to IGNORE that? You want to pretend it didn't happen? You want to pretend that it isnt still a very serious issue?

We have white supremacist groups, police, and others who are actually KILLING people based on race. But, YOU think that doing something about a problem of racism this serious should be IGNORED - because, gee, it's about a specific racial minority??

Say what? I want a level playing field and the special people should not be more equal than us plebs and you call that racist and unAmerican. Everyone being eqaul is not only NOT racist, but it's the American way.

And yes, I have no choice but to ignore what happened before my ancestors came here that no one in my family had anything to do with. If you want to let something you didn't do eat you alive, then that's your choice.

And the police are killing people because of their race? Total Bull. And what supremacist groups are killing people because of their race other than Muslims?
