Why don't those people just become programmers? As Joe said, "If you can shovel coal, you can program a computer.”

Worth is determined via price discovery, not by any piece of legislation.

Disagreed. The minimum wage belies that argument. Price discovery cannot be below minimum wage.

How successful is your company? How much do you pay your employees?

    No, it doesn't.

Yes, it can be. Push minimum wage above it and the job (and/or the business) simply won't exist anymore.

No, they don't. They pay them what they are worth via price discovery.

It sure as heck can be be when you've got illegal aliens flooding the country who are willing to work under the table for below minimum wage, and boy howdy are Joe and Kammy going to make sure we have plenty of that.

I figure if they enact $15 minimum wage, it will just about do away with what is left of our small businesses after the lockdowns. Which is exactly what the Biden administration wants. They are in bed with Target, Walmart, etc. Also, people who own small businesses are too independent, they speak up too much.

Democrats know it won't work. They float this idea to keep their people happy

Don’t have one, and it’s irrelevant.

If it is below minimum wage, then that makes it illegal under the law.

Democrats have been pushing for minimum wage increases since the 60's and have been killing jobs ever since. Without their job killing legislation our current employment rate would be over 140%, unemployment would be -40%.

Well I'm afraid those two employees are going to lose their jobs anyway since Florida voted in a $15.00 minimum wage. Not the smartest move when the economy is in a de facto recession due to lockdowns and up to half of all small businesses are probably never coming back, but in a democracy, the heart wants what the heart wants.

And because it's illegal, it doesn't exist, right?

Illegal is a synonym for nonexistent?

    You don't run a company?

Hold on, let me put on my shocked face.

You sound for all the world like a titan of industry who knows how to run a successful megacorporation.

It's weird how the people who don't run companies always know exactly how to run companies successfully.

If that's true, explain how many, if not most, places in the country pay above minimum wage. McDonalds etc. haven't paid minimum wage here in a long time.

Yea, she said that she'll have to let them go this fall when it goes up to $10. There's no way she can support them over the winter. She had them on part time this winter and is barely making it. They are making more than her.

A living wage? How many people died from acute starvation in the US last year? Outside of emergency survival situations I'd wager zero.

$15. minimum wage is only a raise for the tax man. There is no way for the workers to be better off buying their needs from businesses also paying their employees more. If politicians really cared about low wage workers, just lower their taxes!

Workers aren't worth $15 an hour yet somehow CEO's are worth about $12 million despite the fact it is often their decisions that put companies out of business not the rank and file worker. Many CEO"s and Executives should earn less.
