    You accuse Trump of displaying faux patriotism which is of course just the opposite of Trump as he is perhaps our most patriotic president. Try telling that to the 75+ million Trump fans/supporters/voters who show up at Trump rallies proudly flying the American flag giphy.gif
    Keep in mind Trump's America First agenda when claiming he's unpatriotic. And you're not a liberal? Oh I get it, you're a former member of the defunct Lincoln Project that had a bunch of losing Trump haters. So it looks like you're a proud RINO.

    I like @Steve N explanation of "tradition" better. Tradition is an intangible concept that exist because society wants or accepts it. Once you start arguing for reason such as unifying moments you open up the door to why sporting events need it and other events don't. Why doesn't your workplace play the anthem at the beginning of the work day? Is unity not required there? Also the obvious question comes is what is the quantified value of that unifying moment as opposed to skipping it. The other big question is who decides where it is appropriate. Is it government or up to private business? Can a movie theater or restaurant owner mandate it?

    We don't sing the national anthem at other shows, so I don't see why it's necessary to sing it at sporting events.

    You don't have to have the national anthem just as you don't have to have beer and hotdogs. But if you take either away it's likely to piss a lot of people off and hurt ticket sales.

    Sure, but now you made it even easier. Instead of unity you switched to revenue which is very easy to quantify. I totally support that reason for keeping or removing a policy.

    Unity and revenue are not entirely detached from one another. Plenty of unity in breaking open a cold beer and a hotdog at the ball park.
