This just strikes me as odd. There is a popular ice cream brand in Australia called "Golden Gaytime", named back when "gay" had the same connotation as it does in the Flintstones (happy). People are pushing the company to change the name, claiming it to be offensive to homosexuals. It strikes me as very odd, because "Golden Gaytime" doesn't sound derogatory even if you do equate "gay" with homosexuality. I think if anything it sounds celebratory. I could see a Gay Pride parade named "Golden Gaytime". And if I was told somebody was pushing to change the name, I would have guessed it was anti-gay people screaming that this company was "pushing the gay agenda" down the throats of children.
I’m not offended by this. Why would this offend anyone? I hate when people that do not belong to a specific minority group get offended for others.
Sounds like people trying to be offended on behalf of a minority group they know nothing about. I can’t find them here in the states, but you can bet I’d enjoy a Golden Gaytime if I could.
I am a gay person and I take no offense to this. But I may not be a good person to talk to because I'm not offended by other words that start with f.
Ah yes, the Social Justice Warriors. They're the reason Sesame Street has to put warning labels on the earlier seasons on DVD. The Wanda the Witch bit in particular because it might offend the Pagan Community.
