The bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/127 The gist: - Ban standard capacity magazines - License needed to own a gun - Separate license needed to own certain scary guns - Licenses needed to buy/own ammunition - Register guns - Make public a registry of those who own guns Prediction: This will go nowhere in this congress, or any other, until the balance in the USSC changes Why: The Democrats will not take the risk of these provisions being struck, because similar state and local requirements will be struck as well. Like some Orwellian Truth Gun Control seeks to limit government obeying citizens How about we go for the biggest concentration of, "Bad Guy Guns" ? How about starting with a sweep of Black ghetto neighborhoods where the biggest concentration of Bad Guy guns exist Moi I choose not to own a gun No License No Registration No Permit, open or concealed carry High Crime the unlawful discharge as well as threatening or accidentally harming another while holding ala VP Cheney the firearm Red Dawn Never Forget They sought gun registrations st the Sporting Goods store to know, who had "guns". Don't Further ize
Their desire to have gun owners and their guns made public is to have it both ways. If someone breaks in and takes the guns, then “see, we can’t have this.” If a gun owner kills someone trying to steal their guns, “see we can’t have this.” The entire time, with a straight face, ignoring that they told the public which houses to go to. Luckily I own no guns. I thought I did, but I double checked and realized I don’t. Nothing to register. Womp Womp.
I wonder if China Xoe and his son Humper could use their connections and get me some Chinese guns. Wouldn’t mind a Chinese assault rifle and a couple sidearms. I’d pay them for their services. How would I go about contacting Humper?
Your list is an example of why gun control is not from a position of concern for human life. No crime was ever solved using registration. 100% of this only affects law abiding citizens. It was odd that the ability to conceal an AR pistol was an issue while banning magazines that make it more difficult to conceal is not!
Of course not. It's about making it as hard as possible for the law abiding to exercise their right to keep and bear arms.
If you want Chicom guns my advice would be to contact a CA State Senator. Like this guy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leland_Yee
I have no problem with a license being required to possess a handgun. Almost all gun crimes in the USA are committed with handguns and that tells us a lot. As for high capacity magazines they are nothing but a terrorists or mass shooters best friend. We dont need them. Assault weapons? They should require a special permit & registration.
This would only work for future sales of firearms. No one is going to register the weapons they already own. There would still be hundreds of millions of firearms unregistered and unaccounted for....
Did you ever consider that criminals cannot be required to register guns due to self incrimination protection in the Constitution (5th Amendment). Any gun registration laws are for the honest people.
registration of guns does not equal self-incrimination. those who register such guns cannot then be prosecuted for owning such guns. just like gun buy-back programs. They dont prosecute folks for illegal gun possession if they turn them in.
what is a high capacity magazine. I don't need anti gun arguments that have no basis in reality criminals cannot get licenses for handguns so that is a stupid argument
you're wrong yet again. You cannot prosecute a criminal for failure to register something that is a felony for him to own. Yo might as well demand crack heads get prescriptions to cut down on drug abuse
why would a felon register an assault weapon or any other gun? and yes, if a felon turns in an illegally possessed gun as part of a buy-back program, you cannot prosecute them.
if we required a license to buy and possess a handgun, less crazy *******s would get their hands on handguns. dont forget the Virginia Tech shooter used handguns.
It is illegal for a convicted felon to own a gun. If a convicted felon registers a gun it is clearly self incrimination. Registering a gun to comply with laws the Dems are trying to pass in theory is not the same thing as turning in a gun.
Prediction- it won't matter what they do. Urban peoples will continue to refuse to protect themselves while at the same time making it impossible for local LE to protect them, and rural peoples will continue to elect local LE that protect their ability to protect themselves.
And the anti-gun left will use the mayhem in the cities as a continuing excuse to limit the rights of those not committing the mayhem. As intended.
Thats their goal, sure. But at the end of the day, they can't limit a right, they can only mandate regulations that then must be respected or not. Most of America will not respect these regulations.
so registration is worthless to control criminals. Like most gun control schemes it is designed to harass honest owners who have not missed weapons, under the pretense it will impede those who disobey serious laws
if we require a prescription to buy heroin, overdoses would be next to nothing. What additional requirements would you create to get a license for someone who passed the background check to buy a handgun?
