Is Trump gone? I am getting the impression he is still behind the scenes using his base as a weapon to drive Republicans in Congress to support his lies, whims and revenge tactics.

I expect he is the main driver of the efforts to remove Liz from leadership roles. His fawning obsequious base is poised to accept or reject whomever Trump dictates is worthy or not.

It doesn't seem like that is something that has happened before in American politics but I am sure a Trump supporter can pull a false equivelency out of their hat to normalize it.

Yes, I agree he's driving Cheney's removal, but McConnell is a different animal. Kevin McCarthy will not become Speaker of the House, and McConnell is done with the Big Lie. Here's an open question. What happens to the strategy being employed by congressional Repubs to stand behind the "big lie" if Trump is indicted in GA for his call to Raffensperger? Or if NY state indicts him on fraud and tax evasion charges? Or if the SDNY indicts him for breaking campaign finance law?

My assumption.........nothing. They still stand behind him. Because what choice do they have? Other than opposing the Dem agenda they have none of their own.
