The curriculum is set by the state government. Neither the union or "parents" set curricula. I sure as hell wouldn't want you or other of your type setting out what students learn about American history.

If you knew anything about public education, you'd know curriculum is set by state government. Bottom line, Weingarten is saying the union will defend teachers who teach the curriculum. You won't win. In the end, parents whose average age is 30-50, will side with them, not you.

I taught high school students and adults for more than three decades, was on the teachers' union executive, headed bargaining, and support school vouchers, provided they're for enough that poor parents will be able to afford to enrol their children without having to top up the voucher with money they don't have.

 

I was head of bargaining for the teachers. I know they aren't in "lockstep."
