That's a ridiculously simple-minded view. Just as one example many poor people are obese because they eat far too many cheap potatoes MAL-nutrition is a lot more than just hunger

Russia was a third-world nation with a first world Army for most of its history

Russia needs a strong army to defend itself from its coveting neighbors. After all, it does own 1/3 of the world's wealth. This is why the new Memorial Cathedral of Christs Resurrection has statues on both sides of the Archangel Michael. One statue faces and protects from the West, and the other protects from the East.

No skimping on gold or stained glass here - and all donated. Like Saint Sophia in Constantinople the Church and also the WWII museum were completed in six year. Doesn't seem like a poor country to me?

Do you have a photo of those statues ??

Was that military "church" built over the actual battlefield ??

In other words, could it also be called a "church on the blood" like the newly built church in Yekaterinburg that was built on the site where Tsar Nicholas and family were brutally murdered by the evil antichrist marxists ?!

The Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection, was built over the battlefield outside Moscow that halted the German advance. A nun said something interesting about Stalin going to Saint Matrona and asking her if he should leave Moscow. She told him not to, and that the Germans will not enter Moscow, but he has to open the Churches. All the churches in Russia opened overnight, but she doesn't know for sure if that was the reason.

I think it's in this video that Shoigu mentions the two statues of the Archangel Michael facing East and West. Everything in the Church is symbolic. The art and
    craftsmanship overwhelms me.

It is a strangely haunting and beautiful "church"... but it is very sad [seriously, it makes me cry] because it's blasphemous. It uses awe-inspiring opulence and sacred Christian symbols to glorify antichrist church-destroying mass-murderer marxist Stalin and his "victory" over Hitler's Christian warriors who had the will, ability and courage to stand up and fight against Stalin's antichrist marxist evil. In this post-WW2 dark time of antichrist cultural marxist evil, there are no memorials or churches built for Hitler's REAL Christian heroes who now sleep in Christ awaiting their REAL resurrection... theirs is the REAL VICTORY !!

    Thanks for the information.

There is an important reason why I wanted to know if that "church" built to glorify church-destroying mass-murdering antichrist marxist Stalin's "victory" was built on the blood of Aryan Christian sacrifices [REAL Christians from both sides who died in battle.]

I have read that [mongrel half jew/half Tuvan] Shoigu, Putin's NON-Russian 'minister of defense', wanted the "church" built.

For years some "experts" have said Shoigu may replace Putin. THAT would be the death knell for Russia!

I have a bad feeling that may be the reason why for the past year or so I have been having similar repeated dreams about Putin. In my latest dream a couple of days ago, I was in a panic trying to find Putin. See my previous post about my strange reoccurring dreams at link.

Don't be projecting your failures onto me mate - you are the one spewing propaganda. The Nazi loving Facists running Ukraine treat the Russian Separatists badely. - but that aside - only a moron believed that Russia would allow the strategic port it has held for 400 years into the hands of NATO.

and of course there is propaganda on RT - just not as much as CNN :)

    What propaganda??...."treat Russki separatists badly"?

How so?....in the DPR?....hows it possible?....Ukrainian military doesn't control that....so how can separatists be treated badly?:)).....maybe ask the Russian regulars how they treat anyone with Ukraine sentiments in the DMZ more like.

Funny....those cities I mentioned earlier are mostly Russki speaking,gifty?.....why no riots or disruptions.....even Mariupol, right next to DPR....no $hit disturbers?:)

Funny about Odessa and recent Seabreeze exercises....the local establishments ,bars,restaurants,shops,....seemed eager for business from the visiting US/UK navies, and various other NATO personnel??:)....no protests or **** all......I think Odessa has finally shed that "Soviet dinosaur " image and may return to the vibrant city it once was prior to Marxist Soviet BS.

Krym is going dry gifty....I hear Sevastopol had some torrential rains earlier....some crocodiles escaped from the zoo....im sure they swam around and had some fun with the Russian occupiers? I'm sure there were numerous missing persons reports filed , I doubt any will be found?:)

Not to get picky here, but export figures are pretty well unrelated to efficiency. Russia exports X dollars worth of grain, but can’t cover depreciable equipment nor pay livable wages. The USA exports less, but cost per bushel is lower and profits per bushel are higher.
    They are suffering from inefficiency.

Your denial of the obvious is ridiculous and absurd.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cohen-ukraine-commentary-idUSKBN1GV2TY

Regardless - Russia was never going to let the port in Crimea slip into Nato hands.. this has nothign to do with "Propaganda" - whether someone likes or hates Russia . It has to do with Russia not willing to give up a strategic interest .. and everyone knew it - yet they went and poked the bear anyway .. then trolled around after the fact feigning ignorance "Why .. Why would Russia do such a thing" .. the pretenders cried.

This moronic nonsense is not helping - not making the world a better place.

The Ruble has a lower value deliberately so it will be more competitive and money will come into Russia rather than leave Russia. It's something nations do to boost there economy. Because of the Ruble's lower value, and because Russians do not have to import food and necessities, they will pay in Rubles way less for the same product than Americans.

There is a large underground economy in Russia, but that's part of their system and it's taken into account. What they do have is a strong social system which we don't have. As an example one person who moved to Russia with his family came down with cancer. In Russia it cost him all of $100 to be treated, while here It would have cost him a small fortune.

What Moscow does suffer from is the pressure Washington puts on other nations not to buy Russian goods - even though their products might be much better and cheaper. Russia though is wealthy enough to adjust to our attacks, but it does impose a dreadful hardship on poorer countries who can't afford paying a higher price. But then again we're not known for our humanity. Those days probably died with Kennedy.

Don't you find it strange that we'll sanction and even embargo some nations like Cuba, N. Korea and Syria to make the people suffer, and then call them inefficient when they do? I'm surprised you fell for it.

How dare you not do what we say,
for we will always get our way

    with sanctions, lies,
    that's how we play

    while basking in hypocrisy

and calling it democracy - Jeannette

There are two Ukraine's. There's the Russophobe minority from Western Ukraine that Nuland put into power with her lies and propaganda, so that we could achieve our agenda. Then there's the Russian majority who have been intimidated by the mafias and Nationalists and are suffering immense economic hardships.

Whenever our propaganda networks mentions Ukraine, they are speaking only of Nuland's minority, whether they are the mafias in charge, or their paid Nationalists from Western Ukraine.

If the day comes, (and I think it will), that Russian tanks roll into Kiev, they will be greeted the same way the Crimean people greeted their Russian liberators, with bouquets of flowers.

    Which "Russian separatists"?

    Where,when, how?

The only abuse I'm hearing....on the ground that is....is coming from the DPR....and Krym....with the Tatars ,and anyone else with Ukranian sympathies.

What am I projecting gifty?.....I asked ..YOU...a question....you proceeded to deflect, so it looks like you've boxed yourself in, twisting and turning.

If you have some evidence of widespread "abuse" throughout the country.....show me the "money"??:))

No one "poked the bear," but Putin's regime loves to claim that its acts of military aggression are defensive in nature (and simply deny, deny, deny certain others, such as the poisonings). It had to happen eventually that the Ukrainians would get rid of their Wormtongue president and send him fleeing and crawling to Saruman-Putin.

If "they" had wanted to keep Russia out of Crimea, "they" could have done it. "They" might have been prepared to stop the invasion of the little green men and prevent the theft. Putin's propaganda army would not have fought a war for Crimea, but they were all too happy to roguishly sneak in and take it opportunistically.

I did not deflect - it is you who is deflecting - projecting your failure onto others. You were given a link which - a US news outlet known as "Reuters" - which detailed the abuse of Russian Separatists.

Rather than address the posted info in that article - you "Twist and turn" - trying to demonize the messenger as in the last post - or falsely claim that no evidence was given you -as the post above. :)

Do you have anything other than falsehood and fallacy Zoomie ?

As usual - you have no clue what you are talking about. NATO has been poking the bear for decades .. Crimea was a straw that broke the camel's back.

Really - and how exactly would Ukraine keep Russia out of Crimea - when Russia was already in Crimea - having control of this strategic port for the last 400 years.

I'm not deflecting and I've read that link....which is ambivalent at best....gifty.

I'm not demonizing anything....considering you're still claiming widespread abuse and you can't follow up on it,LOL.

Maybe provide some recent evidence of this ....and maybe, just maybe you might have some credibility gifty.:))
