So, you don’t get the long term affects covid can have. Do some research, other then from Tucker.

Well, Tucker’s version doesn’t count. Their are NO medical research facilities and science organizations that don’t recommend masking in public schools. You’re comments are irresponsible.

Was Trump considered to be on the right back in 2012?

Are they basing their recommendation on a scientific study or just assumption?

Still wondering why you think that bogus reference you gave is a medical research facility. Do you need help with help identifying them ?

OK, I don't know how honest and serious that publication is.

But, let's suppose it is, and let's accept, for the sake of argument, that there is currently no study that scientificly proves the benefit of wearing masks.

However that article states some studies are hinting that they might be effective, if only partly.

On the other hand, I have seen nothing (except the usual rantings about "my freedom, my freedom"), I mean nothing scientific, that justifies a ban against masks mandates.

And in the current circumstances of a spike of Covid cases, specially in Florida, I would rather take an extra precaution (even if it may be futile) than an extra risk (even it may seem acceptable to some), knowing that risk might entail dire consequences and even be fatal.

That is utterly ridiculous. There are plenty of scientific studies proving the benefits of wearing masks. I've posted links to many, here. The easiest thing is to post a link to one that is a meta-analysis, that is, congregates several other studies in one global assessment of the data. I like the one I'll quote because it only took into account studies done with coronaviruses; the MERS, the SARS-1, and the SARS-CoV-2. It looked at both N95 respirators and surgical masks, and both healthcare settings and community settings.

Unsurprisingly the relative risk dropped consistently in almost all studies (only one exception among 29 studies failed to show a benefit; 6 others were inconclusive because nobody in both arms studied, contracted the virus; 22 showed unequivocal benefit), demonstrating a clear benefit for the mask wearer, in avoiding infectious events by coronaviruses.

Now, of course, nobody ever suggested that the benefit is 100% and that no people who mask up can still contract the virus. Of course some will. The masks are not 100% protective. But they do very significantly decrease the odds of catching the virus. Of course they do so if people wear them correctly, covering both the nose and the mouth, with no facial hair, and with a good seal (in the case of facemasks, there are devices that can be worn on top of them to improve the seal). Of course the least efficient the mask type is (such as cloth masks and bandanas) the smallest the benefit will be.

But there is absolutely no scientific doubt about the FACT that the right kind of masks worn the right way do decrease the relative risk of catching a coronavirus. So whoever says the contrary is a big fat liar.

Here, the link, and a table showing the reduction in aRR (adjusted relative risk) to 0.18, which translates into an 82% efficacy. See that five studies showed an even bigger benefit, with RR down to 0.03 in two of them and 0.04 in two others, and also one with 0.08, which translates into an efficacy of 99.7%, 99.6%, and 99.2%; that is, more than the vaccines... Sure, these five studies are a bit of an exception, but the global average still got to an efficacy of 82%. This average would have been even higher if the meta-analysis had only looked into N95 respirators. The efficacy of a well-sealed N95 respirators compares very well to the efficacy of vaccines.

Of course vaccines are longer-lasting than wearing respirators, which are subject to fatigue and removal to eat/drink, incorrect use, etc. But I'm just saying, the data are clear in the fact that masks are a very useful tool against coronaviruses.

I spent over one year during this pandemic treating Covid-19 patients. I did not catch the disease, even before I got vaccinated. I always had on me at least an N95 respirator professionally fit, sometimes N100 and sometimes PAPR. But see, being in an environment with clouds of SARS-CoV-2 aerosol circulating, I never caught the virus, thanks to my correct use of high quality masks.

See that the meta-analysis gathered 29 studies, of which 22 showed a benefit (6 were inconclusive because nobody in both groups caught the virus) and only 1 showed no benefit, so the idea that there are no studies is a big fat lie.

Medical researchers have been highly motivated to find ways to discover ways to reduce the spread of viruses for well over a century. 14 clinical trials from 1946 - 2018 confirmed that masks and other control measures have no statistically significant impact on the spread of viruses. That is the long known very unfortunate and increasingly inconvenient truth.

    “Abstract

There were 3 influenza pandemics in the 20th century, and there has been 1 so far in the 21st century. Local, national, and international health authorities regularly update their plans for mitigating the next influenza pandemic in light of the latest available evidence on the effectiveness of various control measures in reducing transmission. Here, we review the evidence base on the effectiveness of nonpharmaceutical personal protective measures and environmental hygiene measures in nonhealthcare settings and discuss their potential inclusion in pandemic plans. Although mechanistic studies support the potential effect of hand hygiene or face masks, evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza. We similarly found limited evidence on the effectiveness of improved hygiene and environmental cleaning. We identified several major knowledge gaps requiring further research, most fundamentally an improved characterization of the modes of person-to-person transmission.”

The post is an opinion piece from a right lackie. There is no medical research facility that supports the bogus claims of neither the poster or his reference. He’s pretending this bogus article is somehow related toa ligit medical science research facility. That’s the fakery going on. You can’t pretend something exist, when it doesn’t. All of the medical science institutes including the AAAS and every related science govt agency and every accredited university that provides pre med and med degrees supports masking in schools. Geesus, kids 6-12;can’t even get vaccinated and 12 to about 16 only recently. It’s a post that’s laughable
