China needs a land route to get their oil from Iran. China told Jihad Joe he needs to be out of Afghanistan NOW or they will release whatever it is they’re blackmailing him with. Jihad Joe panics and pulls out our military hoping China won’t be upset that a few civilians are left behind.

This is just the start of China moving into Afghanistan, militarily, commercially, and politically. It will be interesting to follow how the Taliban mix it up with the Islam-hating CCP.

Just a word of advice: If you want to win in 2022 and 2024 you need to convince moderates and Independents to vote for you because the base is NOT enough. I don't know about the blackmail part but definitely China's interest in Afghanistan is that more direct land route to Iran. They have committed a 25 year $400 billion dollar plan to rebuild Iran. Their original route through Pakistan proved problematic so I think they are willing to invest billions in Afghanistan to accomplish the goal. Overall all it will probably help Afghanistan but it will serve only to increase China's power and reach.

you do know china didn't even recognize taliban in 1996-2001. china take alot advantage of US security from 2010-2020, and do businesses with previous afahan govt. they are interest in afahan due to the belt & road, but wont do anything till the situation in afahan stabilized. also china policy is non-interference, so they wont care about human right/corruption inside afahan, its businesses to them whether it was previous afahan or the current one.
