China considering deploying military to Bagram airfield

As unfortunate as it is this was inevitable. Trust me I know the frustration that goes along with hearing about stuff like this. Words cannot describe how I felt in the early 2010s as I watched video of American humvees and even TANKS with ISIS black flags on top rolling through OUR FOB's and outposts in Iraq. And I mean no disrespect whatsoever to American civilians but when I say "our" it's literal, not metaphorical. Like literally, I watched ISIS cheering and putting up black flags on MY base in Iraq. And I will admit, it was extremely satisfying when we got the green light to go back over there and whoop their asses all the way back to Syria. It was personal, global politics and strategy and all that be damned. This is my base, I slept and worked and suffered and took bottle water showers and starved and fought and lost people on that base. And they were on it when we left. Hell no. It had nothing to do with furthering American global agenda or regional strategic positioning or anything, it was vengeance.

The logical part of me says who the hell cares what happens to Iraq? Last time I checked I saw exactly nothing at all in my house that said "Made in Iraq" on it so why do I give a damn? But the trained fighter in me overrode that big time and said the bastards need to pay for flying black flags on our bases in Iraq, and pay dearly they did, and to this day I am extremely happy that I was able to personally help them pay for that.

Afghanistan is no different. Whether it's the Taliban or ISIS-K or Al Qaeda or China or Russia "somebody" is going to be flying flags on MY base in Afghanistan. And yes trust me when I tell you my blood is boiling, this has been an extremely difficult past few weeks for me and many of my closest friends. More than a handful of video calls and tears and rage was shed between us all over these past few weeks. And trust me when I tell you I want nothing more than to get the phone call saying we're going back and we're fixing this mess. They are going to PAY for this. I'd do it for 100% free and I'm not joking, damn the taxpayers checks who fund my salary to do my job, it's not about money or American foreign policy, I have enough money now I'm fine. It's about vengeance and honor. Bagram is OUR base. Not "our" base, OUR base, and I would be on the first plane out of here immediately if the DoD asked for volunteers from the force to go reclaim it.

The only difference between the logical half and the fighter half of me now as I'm much older is the fact that I know in my heart one of them is "right". Afghanistan is a lost cause, this was inevitable, leaving was the right choice (not the way Biden did it by ANY means that was a disaster worthy of impeachment at a minimum). That is the correct answer. But even saying that the fighter in me would have my rucksack ready standing on a tarmac for a one way ticket to Afghanistan right now if they let me because that half of me overrides the logical half even to this day.

So trust me when I say I know your frustration and pain. But sometimes we really do have to tame our emotions and listen to our logical brains. And I will say that openly as a 100% pure hypocrite because I will shout that from the rafters yet if I was given the choice to stay in my comfortable house in America in my robe or donning my gear and grabbing my weapons and making sure the damn Chinese don't put their damn flag on Bagram then I'd be on an airplane to Afghanistan right now. Even though I know it's stupid and futile.

So no I don't blame how you feel. But I implore you to listen to the logical half of ME, the same logical half of me that even I myself don't have the ability to listen to. Let them have it, it's not worth it anymore.
