Didn't say Starbucks was authoritarian ... and Starbucks has no relation to the issue of Social Media censoship -

So it is you who is completely turned around .. having no idea what you are talking about - what page we are on - so you put out unrelated nonsense - followed by some attempt to demonize the messenger as authoritarian marxist.

We are not talking about Red authoritarianism .. but - if we were my arguments are way better than yours.

In this case .. Red is fighting authoritarianism - in the form of censorship - a fight in which the people have a vested interest.

This is also a fight against propanda - these companies censorship on the basis of maintaining the state sponsored propaganda narrative.

You wish to stick head in the sand - yammering on about Starbucks - as if the price of coffee has something to do with censorship.

Get on the page - and get an argument.

That is BS. The bill outlaws viewpoint discrimination. The same rule applies to Dems, rhey can sue also. They just never have to.

From the 2d amendment to free speech, from taxes to freedom from China Virus mandates... libs really hate the freedoms we have here in Texas that they don't have in the tyrannical blue states... I LOVE IT!!

That's not elaborating on your stated position. At all. It makes one think that you just conjured up your argument because it sounded "neat" to you.

What do you mean that there is a "monopoly"?

Texas is passing laws limiting rights, not expanding "freedom". Your posts don't make a lot of sense.

These laws expand the rights of the PEOPLE. FREE SPEECH... the right to be heard without interference from people, entities or government.

Texas and Florida are going insane of late.

The law is Anti-American on the face of it. An authoritarian government forcing a private business to structure speech to government dictates is an evil and tyrannical act.

Until recently Texas had become a beacon of hope to tech companies fleeing the insane costs of living and doing business, and flat out nutty laws in California. Now, Texas, joined by Florida, is working to reverse that trend with anti-democracy actions such as efforts to block citizens from voting, to enable the political party in power to over-rule the will of the voters, to ban abortion even in cases of rape, to block public health actions in the face of the worst pandemic in a century and now attacking Freedom of Speech.

The only thing that has gone right in Texas of late is restoring the rights of the people to keep and bear arms. Until Constitutional Carry passed in Texas, the state was "All hat, no cattle" when it came to gun rights.Which is the only positive thing Texas now has going for it.

Free speech doesn't apply to a private platform. I guess the GOP no longer respects private property, a basis tenet of freedom.

Freedom is alive and well here in Texas. We can speak freely... anywhere, anytime. We can bear arms now almost anywhere, anytime, free from any registrations, licenses or permits. That law also allows us to install silencers on our weapons without federal interference. (We are all thankful to the liberal left for establishing the precedent of "sanctuary cities and states, which established that states and cities can simply ignore federal immigration laws. This precedent paved the way for Texas to take exactly the same position in regard to federal gun laws.)
We are free from burdensome state taxes. We are free to live a normal life, free from the requirement for Obedience Masks. Our kids thrive in schools that are open, free from the racist indoctrination of Critical Race Theory. Our shops and stores are open and our restaurants are overflowing with patrons enjoying life free from the tyrannical China Virus restrictions. (And Texas is 23d in the states for China Virus deaths, so its not devastating us.) Texans don't like government interference in our lives. Heck, we don't even have to put down deposits on bottles and cans.
All we want is to be able to elect our officials and have them make the laws we want. That's called democracy. If blue staters want a say in Texas affairs... they should come here, buy a house, establish residency and VOTE.

Incorrect. The enumerated right to Freedom of Speech is a prevention for abuse by Government upon the People. When a government forces a private entity or person to say or not say anything, that is a violently anti-American act and a clear violation of both Free Speech and Private Property Rights.

You, as a Citizen, every every right to censor speech on your property. No one other than yourself may step onto your property and hang a banner or broadcast a political screed that you oppose. It is no different on the internet. Government may not censor nor require speech on private property.

This is not Soviet Russia, Putin's Russia, Commie China or Maduro's Venezuela. The Taliban do not rule here, nor the clerics of Iran, among other sanctuaries for authoritarian lunacy.

If you want Authoritarianism in the USA, you are on the right track.

If you want Americanism in the USA, you are horribly off course and headed for the rocks.

Ok... you obey corporations.... make sure you do not offend them. Be quiet when they say. Speak when they say. Sit up and bark when they say. Your choice.

    Not ours.

No son, I am not a bot. I am a patriot that believes in freedom. I spent decades in uniform defending it from Europe to the Middle East. Its not some talking point to me. Its a valuable, living way to live. You sound too young to remember when we loved America and seem bathed in left wing attitudes and brainwashing. You should try living in places where freedom is a foreign concept as I have. You may have the opportunity to experience real tyranny soon, for you seem to be embracing its initial forays into America.

Limiting rights to the few in favor of the rights of the majority. That's why we have monopoly laws.

Texas has taken the leadership role and saying: Enough is enough!

    BRAVO TEXAS! :applause:

Uh, you don't seem to understand the Constitution.

It's meant to protect all of us from government overreach, not "the majority".

Yeah, I'll mess with Texas--those ****ing idiots don't seem to grasp to distinction between government action and non-government action.

These are busy people. They don't have the time to sweat social media giants right to contain the 'Big Lie' and anti vax propaganda spread via their product. They are too busy suing to defend the right of a bakery in Mayberry, North Carolina who does not want to write 'Congratulations Adam and Steve' on a wedding cake. Now that is a terrifying threat to a corporate entitlement to run its own business model!

    I do. Texas blows.

Violating the Constitution is not something a state gets to do. Even if people unfamiliar with being an American like having some people get stepped on.

That's acceptable to them because of "freedom", but it's also acceptable for them to require a private business to post bs from people who violate the TOS.

I was born and raised in New York City. It blows, because Connecticut sucks. I spent 20 years in CA before escaping here to Texas almost 5 years ago. Your attitude about Texas tells me you have never been here, come from a blue ghetto in the north and think that Hoboken is the "DEEP SOUTH".
When your DNC masters tel you to jump, be sure to yell "How High, Sir?" on the way up. It is the north that is violating the Constitution every day with mandatory CHINA VIRUS business closures, Obedience Mask mandates, Draconian gun laws, ignoring immigration laws, and obeying media CEO's rather than the Bill of Rights.

TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!!! C'MON TEXAS!!! SECEDE!!!

    Addition by subtraction.

Texas sucks. But it doesn't have to suck. It can stop violating the Constitution and taking a steaming dump on private property owners.

I grew up in New York City. Due to the Army and Lockheed I have lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Virginia (three times), Pennsyandlvania, Delaware, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and for twenty years before moving here to Texas, 20 years in California. You sound very young, with limited experience anywhere. You also sound like a typical northerner that thinks Hoboken is the "DEEP SOUTH". No one is violating the Constitution here. Indeed, it is the blue states that are violating the Constitution by stifling free speech on social media, enforcing China Virus restrictions that close businesses and schools, forcing citizens to wear obedience masks, limiting 2d amendment rights, imposing crippling taxes, indoctrinating kids in school with racist dogma like Critical Race Theory, and generally invading everyone's lives. I was born and raised in New York and cannot tell you how wonderful the freedom is here.
