Worried Trump could 'go rogue,' Milley took top-secret action to protect nuclear weapons

Two days after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, President Donald Trump's top military adviser, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, single-handedly took top-secret action to limit Trump from potentially ordering a dangerous military strike or launching nuclear weapons, according to "Peril," a new book by legendary journalist Bob Woodward and veteran Washington Post reporter Robert Costa.

Woodward and Costa write that Milley, deeply shaken by the assault, 'was certain that Trump had gone into a serious mental decline in the aftermath of the election, with Trump now all but manic, screaming at officials and constructing his own alternate reality about endless election conspiracies.'

Milley worried that Trump could 'go rogue,' the authors write.

    [...]

Milley's fear was based on his own observations of Trump's erratic behavior. His concern was magnified by the events of January 6 and the 'extraordinary risk' the situation posed to US national security, the authors write. Milley had already had two back-channel phone calls with China's top general, who was on high alert over the chaos in the US.

It'll be a while before his cult disappears, but eventually Trump will go down in history as the most dangerous POTUS this country has ever seen.

Who would have believed in this day and age, that the military of the world's largest democracy was forced to take measures to protect the country from the actions of the President?

    Thoughts ?

All the generals who took action to secretly stop Trump from acting after January 6 are heroes.

They should all receive the highest honor for their actions.

    It's as simple as that.

This doesn't surprise me but it also doesn't relieve my worries. Trump IS dangerous and anti-America. He, alone, is powerless. His followers have shown they are willing to overlook everything he's done to bring this country to its knees. They won't listen or even consider the idea that he's working against us all. They are the bite behind his bark and a few million people pose a formidable risk to all of us.

Yes they are heroes, not completely incompetent buffoons who botched an easy withdrawal out of Afghanistan, are worried about getting lesbians into the Armed forces, are deeply interested in understanding white male rage, are not too concerned about military readiness and who are increasingly despised by the rank and file soldiers.

If Trump had started a nuclear war on a whim, all your little concerns would have been pretty insignificant.

No, they're not, and I say that as an ex-military man myself who holds General Officers in the highest of regards and respect. If these allegations are true, their actions were Unconstitutional, and didn't just border on treason, they crossed that line and kept running. If they are true, whomever issued such orders should be arrested and charged with Treason, and it's likely that anyone who cooperated with, or followed what is clearly an unlawful order, should be too. Like it or not, at that moment in time, Trump was still the President of the United States, and the Commander In Chief of our military. The fact that Trump issued no such reckless orders (which according to the "never Trump" crowd, was supposed to happen within mere days of him becoming POTUS in the first place) is proof positive that the alleged reckless behavior of GEN Milley (assuming, once again, that the allegations are true) was not only treasonous, but also completely unnecessary.

What he should have done if he was that concerned, would have been to contact the VP, and made a formal request that he invoke the 25th Amendment, with the buy-in of enough members of the Cabinet. But we have no idea what would have happened had that request been made because apparently, it wasn't.

He didn't. Meaning any worries of him actually doing so were completely unfounded.

He should have resigned instead of resorting to treason. This is the same woke General that is ruining the military for left wing ideology.

I won’t lie when I say that one of the biggest things that came out of 1/6 that seldom gets attention is that the military took steps against the civilian government.

Do you think Caesar wanted to protect the Roman Republic when he crossed the Rubicon?

Are you not aware that the military takes an oath to protect the constitution, not to blindly obey the President, especially if his actions represent a threat to the security of the country?

"I am pleased to announce my nomination of four-star Gen. Mark Milley, Chief of Staff of the United States Army — as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, replacing General Joe Dunford, who will be retiring," Trump wrote. "I am thankful to both of these incredible men for their service to our Country! Date of transition to be determined."

Trump has even broken an unofficial tradition of rotating chairmen by which service they align with to nominate Milley...

While the left never misses an opportunity to call out the civil disobedience on 1/6 as sedition and treason, they’re literally giddy that someone went behind the constitutionally elected president and tried to take away his authority and power, and he did so needlessly.

Milley needs to be removed from his job, arrested and court martialed

Ark, that's not fair. You know he needed those codes.

    0 (42).jpg

They are completely blinded by him. He said that he could shoot somebody and not lose any supporters. He spoke the truth on that one.

400,000 Covid deaths (for which he takes no responsibility at all).
5 dead Capitol police officers (1 that day, 4 suicides)
Hundreds of injured Capitol police officers (some permanently)
Countless Americans and innocent Afghani people (when he negotiated with terrorists <--- takes one to know one)

Denied Biden access to transition meetings so he could get things going as quickly as possible after his inauguration. We can only imagine the number of unnecessary deaths as a result of whatever delays Trump's childishness caused for the Biden Admin.

And, he has already planted the seed that Biden is letting in terrorists so there WILL be a spike in hate crimes against the Afghani refugees who risked their own lives to help our side in their home country. For some reason, they also don't seem to have an issue with him inviting ACTUAL TERRORISTS to Camp David.

The saddest part is all they have to do is follow the news on how much Trump is doing to help the people that breached the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Oh, that's right. He turned his back on them when they didn't accomplish his mission to hurt our seated Vice-President. I bet they aren't wearing Trump blinders in their prison cells.

Someone who still believes, 9 months after the election, that Biden is an illegitimate President doesn't have the credibility to criticize the decisions of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Milley was appointed by Trump and he's not going anywhere.

When I was at Staples the other day, this guy came up to me and started asking me about my car. Seemed like a normal conversation at first. Then he started talking about trump out of the blue. He was saying that there are soldiers and marines and “special operations” forces across the country ready to swoop in and remove the “illegal” Biden administration in 4 months, and that “Americans” would win at last.

obviously, the guy was nuts, and nothing like that is going to happen, but it did make me wonder how many loons out there believe nonsense like this.
Anyways, this thread just made me think about that.

100% - If the really did that, he needs to be tried for treason and hung as a traitor to the nation.

    That's insane.

What turns me off the most about the cult of Trump is that no one is credible enough to criticize him.

Even the people that Trump has appointed, whose skills he has praised, get copiously insulted by the MAGA when they criticize him.

Their faith in Trump is totally blind.

Even the US Chief of Staff is being dragged through the mud when he claims that he was afraid Trump would start a nuclear war.

Never in the history of this country has there been such a dangerous cult of personality.

The Constitution makes the POTUS the Commander in Chief.

Article II, Section 2, Clause 1: The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia

What you Leftists are cheering about and supporting is straight up Treason. What if they did this to Biden, Obama, Bush? You can't do this crap. It's not his call. It's the Cabinet's call.

Again... this is insane if true. If it is true, Milley should be sent to Leavenworth at minimum.
