That is roughly 1/2 of one-millionth of one percent of the total Greenland ice sheet mass. At this rate we're about 500,000 years away from losing just Greenland. Of course this assumes no more glacial ice ages.

Hot damn! Be aware data was very sparse on hurricanes that didn't make landfall from 1850 to around 1880.

    Thanks @AARguy.

Thank you for making my point. Since it wasn't manmade CO2 that caused the warming when herbivore Dinosaurs roamed the artic, the events appear unrelated.

There is good reason to think the rate of ice melt will continue to accelerate. A second, NASA-backed study on the Greenland ice sheet, for instance, finds that no less than 74 major glaciers that terminate in deep, warming ocean waters are being severely undercut and weakened.

Scientists descended into Greenland’s perilous ice caverns — and came back with a worrying message

And it asserts that the extent of this effect, along with its implications for rising seas, is still being discounted by the global scientific community.

Failing to fully account for the role of ocean undercutting means sea-level rise from the ice sheets may be underestimated by “at least a factor of 2,” the new paper in the journal Science Advances finds.

Sounds like the arguments you deniers are making have taken a subtle turn from "climate change, what climate change?" to "yeah the ice is melting due to climate change but it just doesn't matter."

    But it does. https://sealevel.climatecentral.org/

I'm making the same argument I have always made. Alarmist headlines rely on hiding context from readers.

New Study: No Trend In Compound Natural Disasters Across Australia Since 1966
By Kenneth Richard on 13. September 2021

Three new studies affirm there has been no significant change in natural disasters, precipitation, or bushfire across Australia for the last several decades.
Instances when perilous flooding, drought, bushfire, cyclones, storms, heatwaves…occur at the nearly same time are classified as “compound disaster” events.

Across Australia, there has been no statistically significant trend in compound disaster events over any period in the last 50 years.

The predominant and most predictable driver of climate-related disaster events is not anthropogenic global warming, or CO2 emissions, but the El Niño Southern Oscillation.

Only common sense is required. We know wild fires are ignited by people, electric utilities and lightning. There is not single example of climate change igniting one.

Our descendants are going to look back on us, unable to imagine how we could be so stupid. We have had warning after warning about how we our dooming ourselves with overpopulation and over consumption, which climate change is a symptom of. It will be similar to how we look back at slave owners, wondering how they could justify owning another human. It's that level of stupidity.

Or they could marvel at how we bit down hard on both Y2K and AGW, two non-problems hyped to produce hysteria. Concern about "overconsumption" is a distinctly smug First World problem indulged only by the comfortable.

Climate change did not stoke California's wildfires. Governments did that.
How Much Is Newsom to Blame for California's Wildfires?

    Tristan Justice, Federalist

". . . More than 100 years of fire suppression by the U.S. Forest Service has culminated in the build-up of wood fuel powering the megafires seen today. While high-intensity blazes primarily grow on federally mismanaged lands, state agencies still play critical roles in fire prevention efforts with Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) agreements with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to conduct cooperative forest management. Nearly half the state is owned by the federal government.

Newsom, who faces a recall election Tuesday, dramatically cut California’s budget for wildfire prevention and resource management from $355 million in 2019 to $203 million, a more than 40 percent decrease on the heels of some of the worst seasons on record since modern-day tracking began in 1983.

Lawrence McQuillan, a senior fellow at the Oakland-based libertarian think tank Independent Institute, called the lack of resources devoted to prevention efforts “deliberate” in an effort for Democrats to prove their theories on climate change are correct.

“Climate change isn’t necessary nor sufficient for this problem to occur. What is necessary and sufficient for what we’re seeing in California is the lack of proper land management and fuel reduction,” McQuillan told The Federalist. . . ."

No getting around that your preposterous belief assumes the vast majority of climate scientists world wide have it very wrong.

Your post was unconnected to the work of any climate scientist. I share the view of the Chairman of the Racah Center for Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and IBM Einstein Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, Professor Nir Shaviv.

Dubious climate science about the Texas cold disaster

Posted on September 14, 2021 by curryja | 31 comments

A critique of Judah Cohen’s recent cover article in Science linking February’s disastrous cold outbreak in Texas to global warming

". . . Predictably, champions of the warming-causes-cold-anomalies have come forward, with Judah Cohen, a consulting atmospheric scientist, with his theory that sea-ice changes in the arctic and snow-driven October changes in Siberia conspire to stretch the stratospheric polar vortex down to, say, Texas. Somehow his stuff always makes it into The New York Times, which is likely not a measure of its quality, but rather yet another thing to turn on their climate change alarm (which it rarely turns off). . . .
If you’re scratching your head after reading this, think of how much hair I lost reading Cohen’s paper. It’s got a lot of pretty pictures that look seductive until you get into the details as to how they were ultimately applied by the MiMA model.

The bottom line is that Cohen et al. are going to have to be lot more convincing before I believe that a single month’s snowfall in Siberia drives the weather thousands of miles and several months away."

Hype can get a headline, but the data will prevail.
All 5 Global Temperature Measurement Systems Reject NOAA’s July 2021 “hottest month ever” Alarmist Hype
    Guest Blogger
Guest essay by Larry Hamlin In a clear discrediting of NOAA’s and the media’s recent overhyped and flawed global temperature claim that “July 2021 was the hottest month ever recorded” (with this hype promoted by NOAA climate alarmist “scientists”) updated data from all major global temperature anomaly measurement systems (including NOAA as discussed below) proves that NOAA’s claim was exaggerated, deceptive and distorted. . . .

How about we do this, Jack. I'll concede there are no shortage of scientists outside of the discipline of climate science who are trying to make a name for themselves by disputing the conclusions of the vast majority of actual climate scientists. Feel better?

Professor Shaviv has had dozens of climate science papers published in scientific journals, including those considered most prestigious. You might also want to review the publications of Professor Henrik Svensmark.

But the climate change is NOT due to man. Man made CO2 amounts to 7 parts in a million every year. Time to look else where.
