The Religious Exemption is LOL

If robbery is a religious belief, should the employer not reject him?

Nobody is being denied work for religious beliefs. That's illegal. The restriction is because of a pandemic. If that falls under a religious belief, there are exemptions. What else should we exempt based on religious belief? How 'bout work? Can you fire me for not working if laziness is a deeply held religious belief?

 

My reply was addressing a position of "no exemptions" while claiming support of "choice". A position of having to choose between consuming a pharm product or losing your livelihood cannot be considered support of choice. How about we require "Never had an abortion" ID cards for employment?

Their belief is not being used to deny any of those. No where in any religious texts exists a passage commanding the faithful to refuse a vaccine.

Religious faith ends when it impacts another that is unwilling to participate. Freedom of religious belief does not mean freedom to force others to do whatever they want.

I support religious freedom — I do not support religious control.

 

Again. That is the state forcing something.
If an employer wants to refuse employment to people that have had abortions that is their decision.

Well I think everyone should. On that we can agree. And technically everyone can ...its just that some of them might have to lie about it, as it is.

As I said in the OP, its a big copout for fedgov, wanting to make authoritarian mandates but not actually back them up with authoritarian force. This nonsense is the result.

That seems to be the new way of skirting around the constitution. Texas laid the groundwork and now local, state and federal government will likely follow suit.

Government forcing businesses to accept false religious exemptions is government overreach. As is forcing businesses to test employees or mandate vaccination.
