Scared shitless?? Are you joking?? It would be a dream and a Godsend for the Dems if Trump is the GQP's top horse in 2024. Trump got his ass whooped by an old, pervy, senile codger so bad in 2020. I pray that Trump is the GQP's top dog in 2024. Keep the GQP out of the WH.

    Two things about this.

1- Trump's election is the result of a sociological phenomenon called post-modernism.

I invite you to read about it.

In short, it is a movement that tends to deny the hierarchy of knowledge (or facts). For the MAGA, the 'elites' (scientists, professors, experts) no longer have a status that allows them to be a reference in their field.

When Trump says 'only I can fix it' or 'I know more about ISIS than the generals', he gives himself a status of reference that he doesn't have and that pleases his voters because it shows that the 'elites' are talking nonsense and that an outsider like him can have the solutions to all the problems.

Once you place your trust in Trump, you believe everything he says because he single-handedly channels all the credentials you have rejected in every other sphere of society.

2- Trump prepared public opinion well in advance for his strategy to reject the election results.

As far back as 2017, he claimed the election was rigged.

But since he won, we didn't hear any more about it until the 2020 campaign began.

By the way, no MAGA on this forum has ever been able to explain to me why Trump, during his entire tenure, has never wanted to change election laws or even opened a debate about election security.

    Complete silence for three years....

Then, when the campaign started, Trump claimed that he could only lose if the Dems cheated.

No wonder the MAGA believed Trump when he claimed that there was electoral fraud, they were prepared months in advance.

    Yet, the evidence is non-existent.

I'm gonna take a tangent off this.

When it comes to language, and the thought patterns that it produces, the right is light years ahead of the left. There are many examples, but the one that sticks out to me is the term "leftist."

I can't remember when "leftist" took hold, but I do remember the Reagan '80s, and the term was "liberal." The traditional meaning of "leftist" was communist. We used it to describe Chinese and Soviet leaders. No one ever called an American liberal a leftist. Now, after decades of repetition, I see self-described liberals calling themselves leftists.

The right has been manipulating language for a long time, and most of it makes its way into the popular lexicon. I don't think it's that much of a problem, but it's always fascinated me how the right will stand pat with their contorted language, for decades if necessary, and it eventually takes hold.

An example of the insanity. Leftist 2.0

Why run George Will's leftist tirades? | Lettereditor | stardem.com

When one of the few real conservative intellectuals is called a leftist, we've reached the point where the term means simply "my enemy."

Waiting for the investigation results. I don't believe anything, but I accept the results until evidence of mass corruption is provided.

That's a good point, but fortunately, the Conservatives have failed to make the term 'leftist' extreme.

The Liberals now dominate the political landscape.

That's why I have no problem defining myself as a leftist because it's like not caring about the Republican definition.

They used the "there is no evidence to suggest there were fraudulent votes introduced into the count" method. The same method they used to determine that aliens from Pluto did not come down to earth and vote illegally.

Yes, it's become normalized. Don't know how old you are, but if you remember the '80, do you remember any liberal being called a leftist? I don't.

Here's Ronnie. No mention of leftists.

I agree with you about the right's failures here, though. These terms may have been conjured up in right wing think tanks, but their usage by the uneducated dilutes them to the extent they become meaningless. See "leftist George Will" above.

It's certainly much different now than in 2003, but here's a good article by Lakoff:

George Lakoff tells how conservatives use language to dominate politics (berkeley.edu)

Reagan was a Liberal. He was pro-choice till he changed parites and needed votes. He was a massive spender and debt adder and was pretty much anti-gun

By today's standards, he was flaming.

Reagan's claim to conservative fame was trickle down economics (note, in that clip he conflates conservatism with libertarianism. Libertarianism combines theory from both the left and right.)

I didn't like Reagan. I liked his successor. This is what used to get me about Reagan. Pure acting.

Reagan became a man of God as soon as he needed the votes. That was the beginning of the religious right's hijacking of politics.

Elect an actor that's what you get.

Elect a con man that's what you get.

Trump was a Democrat, anti-vax, atheist his WHOLE life until he wanted to run for President which he said he would never do. Quite frankly, he probably chose the "R" because they are willing to overlook quite a few skeletons and still-warm bodies. They also don't require much. In fact, they don't ever ask where anything he's ever promised is (ie. BO's birth certificate, Hillary in jail, super duper tremendous health care plan, etc. All talk, no action and they are okay with that for some reason). Just saying. <smdh>

    See a pattern?

Yes, I've said the same thing myself here in several threads. He started priming them before last summer. And, holding himself up as a Renaissance man doesn't work because he has no skills or talents unless pick-pocketing his supporters to line his own pockets qualifies.

    It's beyond pathetic.

He chose R because R's are like sheep. D's are like cats.

R's nod their heads, go "bahhhh," and follow you around everywhere you lead them.

    D's do this:

You are so silly! I like it!!! ;-)

Honestly, tell me. Did you EVER think the party of "family values" would worship a serial cheater, liar, con man that had unprotected sex with a hooker and tried to pay her off, set up a fake charity, a worthless fake school and is a stone cold idiot? My understanding is that Reagan was likeable. Orange Jesus doesn't even have a good personality!

Also, they were in disarray with no real front runner and support spread out between 12 or more candidates. The DNC was all about Hillary.

The GOP was an easy target for Trump

So, their big plan was to run the biggest loser on the planet to bring them some cohesiveness? That makes no sense whatsoever considering somebody wrote a book of Orange Jesus' *contributions* to the world. Another Republican, who, no doubt, is hated for telling the truth about the loser.

That was not their plan, that was Trump's reason for picking the GOP over the DNC. He took advantage of the disarray and used it to his advantage.

That excuse is only good for the 2016 election. Why are they still kissing the ground he walks? We are on the brink of civil war over his BS. Capitol police officers are dead, hundreds injured, our soldiers and allies were killed or hurt by the 5,000 psychopaths he let walk out of prison and he has told his cultists that Biden is letting in terrorists. None of this seems to be raising any eyebrows for that team.

He is a cult leader, once he got a chance to be in the spotlight he took it and ran. His followers are very cult like and now the establishment are scared to death of his base. It is not enough to win an general election, but it is enough to primary someone and they loose their cushy position in Congress.

Do you remember his stupid butt asked if we could nuke a hurricane? I think they should have said "yes" and renamed him "Hurricane".

Just when I think I could not dislike someone more. Ugh.

1 the big lie is calling it a big lie
Safe machine based voting scrapped in favor of ancient and easy to cheat mail in ballots
2 I agree Trump needs to give up. Sometimes cheating happens and it cannot be undone

Nobody cheated Trump, Darth. He just can't handle the fact that he got fired (it's tough when one has never been fired).

Do you honestly believe NOTHING has surfaced to show MILLIONS of fraudulent ballots?

Plus, it's unfair to say that people opted for mail-in voting so they could cheat. The pandemic caused the concerns about in-person voting, not some nefarious plan by millions of people to cheat Orange Jesus. He got fired because he sucks and he screwed up COVID mitigation.

Plus, he claimed fraud in the 2016 election but didn't pursue "election integrity" because he won. All he is doing is projecting because he's a liar and cheater.

Explain how this is easy to cheat....

I request my mail-in ballot on line using personal information only I or an ID thief would know. The ballot can only be mailed to my address on record. Once it arrives I fill it out and send it back with my signature and it has a tracking number known only to me and I can track it as it makes its way from the post office to the county office to being processed and then being tabulated.

are there security guards keeping it safe while it sits in your mailbox waiting for you? You see this can be avoided with this amazing invention called the voting machine
