    It's about damn time.

The Supreme Court has decided to review a direct challenge on Roe vs. Wade, and with the Supreme Court stacked 6-3 in favor of the right, the state challenge will likely be ruled unConstitutional, and Roe vs. Wade will be rendered obsolete and irrelevent forevermore.

Perhaps after this is done, some of the more controversial parts of the 1st Amendment and the 14th Amendment can be reviewed by a conservative Supreme Court as well.

    https://www.politico.com/states/cal...l-hear-direct-challenge-to-roe-v-wade-1382580

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday said it will review Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, taking up a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade just a few months after its newest conservative justice joined the bench.

The Mississippi ban, which has been blocked by lower courts since it was enacted in 2018, will be one of the first reproductive rights cases argued before the Supreme Court since Justice Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed in October, giving conservatives a 6-3 majority that is widely expected to curtail abortion access.

The court will consider the heart of Roe by hearing arguments on whether all bans on abortion prior to the point of fetal viability are unconstitutional.

Roe vs. Wade ignores the U.S. Constitution, specifically the 10th Amendment. It was bad law then, and is bad law now, not because of the content, because it ignores the States Rights as specifically stated in the 10th Amendment.

    U.S. Constitution - 10th Amendment

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Let each state decide as it is supposed to be. If people don't like the laws of a given state... they can move.

Even if Roe v Wade gets reversed it WON'T be the "End of Abortion".

It will be decided on a State by State basis, and it is certain that several states will still allow the procedure.

So, since that is the situation, why would anybody think that Roe v Wade getting reversed would be the "End of Abortion"?

The first step is ending Roe vs Wade.

The second step is a Federal ban on unrestricted abortion (which allows states to go further in their own restrictions).

Abortions will take place illegally. Why is it so important to ban legal abortions?

It will be for tens of millions of Americans.

    Not the rich, though.

Maybe , but definitely not the end of abortion.

Wealthy women will always have abortion available and abortion for the middle class and poor will just go undergound to safe havens.

What's worse than coat hangers is the FACT that women would lose a basic human right, the right to bodily autonomy as Ant-Choicers celebrate...

...and those who don't fight this just may be surprised at who they come for next.

And raped women and pregnant women with health problems will suffer and die for the Big Crimes of Having Sex and Becoming Pregnant..

Some states had legal abortion before Roe:

    • 1970 – Hawaii, New York, Alaska and Washington repealed their abortion laws. Specifically, Hawaii became the first state to legalize abortions on the request of the woman, New York repealed its 1830 law and allowed abortions up to the 24th week of pregnancy, and Washington held a referendum on legalizing early pregnancy abortions, becoming the first state to legalize abortion through a vote of the people.

70% of America is Pro-Choice, not a smart choice for Republicans

they never planned on this passing, they just wanted to pretend they cared to get the anti-choice vote

careful what you wish for republicans

All this will do is drive if underground. You will see more Dr Gosnells who was a classic example of what happens when there is no government oversight

Without those checks and balances you have when it is illegal you may see a rise in late term abortions (one famous case of Gosnells was a teen forced by her family to abort when the pregnancy became obvious) You will certainly see a rise in infant and maternal mortality ( without the ability to space childbirth infant mortality rises). Increase in poverty child abandonment and need for social service support

Hopefully the US can use its superior economic might to force inferior and backward European and Commonwealth states into restricting abortion on similar grounds.

The only reason a lot of those comparatively worthless nations are even allowed to exist is because the US, China, Russia and economically superior nations aren't interested in colonizing them, but maybe that will change in the future given the right incentives.

Allowing all those things causes chaos in society....that's why there are laws against them.

    Abortion does not cause chaos.

He wasn't talking about judges he was talking about Repub politicians who don't want abortion to end because they dupe voters into voting for them by pretending they're going to do something about it...

BTW, do you think abortion started in 1973?

Have you read what happened in Romania when they banned abortion and ensured women did not have a choice? I have a thread on it - are you prepared for another Romania?

So this is the mentality of people who want to ban abortion? Child porn, murder and rape are all forced upon someone else without consent. No one owns another person's body.
