They did. Yes, you're allowed certain types of guns. If you're occupations requires it (such as a security guard), or are a primary producer. NEVER for self defense. And none of the guns allowed would give your government pause if they decided to go full totalitarian. Hell, they even regulate the LOOKS of a gun. I believe its unofficially called the "Appearance Law" or some such? Basically if it even looks like a military styled gun then they can classify it as being illegal for a civilian to have, doesn't matter if it mechanically functions like any other type of weapon that a civilian may normally be allowed. You do know that something being "hyperbolic" means that there is some truth to it? That the person using it is exaggerating? Its like Bowerbirds previous post where he says many conservatives hate Australians guts because of the gun laws enacted. That was hyperbolic. Yes, some may hate your guts because of it, but not "many". I've got a feeling that the only reason he used "many" is to give himself wiggle room and he probably would have preferred to use "all" but knew he'd be called to prove such. Everyone knows that Australia didn't ban "all" guns. But they certainly have banned all guns that would prove a threat to the government. That is what is meant when most conservatives talk about the ban Australia instituted. Like your .410 lever shot gun, allowed a max of 5 rounds is certainly not going to give your government pause. (classified as category B isn't it?) And you had to prove a genuine need to get your gun. What was that need? Care to share? Here's a list... The SSAA is a recreational shooting club. I will be able to get the .410 legally and retain it at home. Therefore, if a need arises and defence of self in home is required, I'll be breaking no law to use it.
