Tesla will move its headquarters to Texas, Elon Musk says

(CNN Business)Tesla HQ is getting a new home.

"I'm excited to announce that we're moving our headquarters to Austin, Texas," CEO Elon Musk said Thursday during a Tesla shareholders meeting.

The electric car company is currently based in Palo Alto, California, near its original headquarters in San Carlos, and its first factory, in Fremont. Musk said Thursday that there is a "limit to how big you can scale in the Bay area."

He cited housing affordability and the long commutes it can create as hurdles for its current location, and said the Austin factory is five minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown. The median home price in Palo Alto is $3.3 million, according to Realtor.com, whereas the median home price in Austin is $588,000.

Big news! It's for financial reasons, as you expect, though apparently not tax rates or state policies if Elon is to be believed.

I like it, though. It should help bring lots of new Democratic voters to a state that really needs them :)

It would certainly put a kink in that Red state's bubble, one that they may not really appreciate at the moment. Let's see if they can subvert the law of consequences.

I can't see too many Bay Area people moving to Texas and being thrilled about that Shariah Lite ban on abortions. Things should get interesting indeed.

Who the **** cares? Thankfully our Supreme Court justices who are appointed for life don't have to care about the whims of the masses like 'politicians' do.

Also there's no reason to think that Telsa employees would be "Democrat voters", or that company with only about 70,000 employees worldwide (let alone in the US) would make a difference in elections or anything else.

Tax rates and state policies contribute directly to this "financial reason".

California chased its last auto manufacturer out of state.

The GQP is a dead party walking at this point. Between backing that wannabe dictator, turning Texas into a battleground with the worst gun policies ever, and enacting an abortion law that has no place in the 21st century, extremists RINOs have doomed their party. They just don't know it yet.

Prove it, don't just blindly assume because it's popular propaganda.

No one believes that nonsense which has been said to death for decades and never been true. It's just pure propaganda.

Unrestricted abortion has no place in the 21st century, which is why its rates correlate with poverty and those who live like feral animals.

The party doesn't matter, the only ultimately significant purpose of the party is as a vehicle to elect judges who are appointed for life and don't have to worry about the rabble rousing that mere "politicians do".

Currently the Supreme Court is 6-3 conservative, which is probably the only ultimately relevant thing that Trump helped to accomplish while in office.

Worst gun policies ever? If you think the Texas gun laws are worse now than they were in 1846, then you must be a firm believer in the right of the people to keep and bear arms. So do a little research, and get back to us on whether the current Texas gun laws are the "worst gun laws ever."

Extremist RINOs? You don't realize that RINOs are closer to being liberal democrats than conservative republicans? Hell, the damn RINOs are on your side, you should be applauding them. But, you may be right, the RINOs are not serving the conservative constituency and they may be the ruin of the GOP, and hopefully many of them will be primaried.

Why Elon Musk And Other Tech Billionaires Are Leaving Silicon Valley For Texas
    By Sissi Cao • 12/15/20 9:01am

California’s strict lockdown rules during the coronavirus pandemic are believed to have encouraged his decision, too. In May, Musk angrily tweeted that Tesla would move its headquarter to Texas (or Nevada) “immediately” after local governments refused to let the company reopen its Fremont factory.

...“California’s state tax has become untenable for a lot of millionaires,” she added. “And they will continue to make informed financial choices and follow Musk’s footsteps. If the booming real estate markets outside of San Francisco are any indication, some people have left for good.”

Texas has no state income tax, though property taxes continue to be a major issue for local economies. Austin is a liberal hub in still-red Texas and has attracted start-ups and tech workers for the last decade.

Ops post is damage control to make the democrat party seem less inept.

Maybe you should be checking the rate of people and businesses abandoning California. Last year, California’s population decreased for the first time in recorded history and it lost a congressional seat. Business headquarters are also leaving the state at a record pace totaling 265 headquarter relocations over the three-and-a-half-year period, or an average of six relocations per month.

This includes Apple moving their headquarters to TX, Nestle to VA, and Oracle to TX. Doesn't sound like Democrats are running to California. Sounds like they are fleeing in droves.

The common usage of RINO is for a Republican who generally sides with democrats. You may misappropriate the term if you want to.

Do you not want to discuss your claim of "worst gun laws ever"?

Current administrations approval numbers suggest otherwise.

Keep ignoring facts though, your talking points sound great.

Dictatorial behavior comes from the left primarily. When you try to run peoples lives, that's more in line with a dictatorship than anything Trump did.

Once again, keep ignoring the truth and the facts that go with it. Your agenda should take top priority.

Flat out false. Chicago says hi.

Your opinion. I'll let you know the instant I care.

Could you alert the facts and truth....because they still suggest otherwise.

    Austin is the shithole.

Drove through there in March and it's probably the filthiest (literally....trash is everywhere) city in the state....and yea, it's because it's the most liberal.

Austin is the only Bastian and saving grace of a city for that Sharia shithole State. Dallas is becoming more Liberal as well. Texas may someday no longer be Afghanistan lite.
