I don't spend the time. I figure if they germinate, we get a pretty ditch. If not, the birds have a few more seeds to peck at.

You are doing a good thing. Do you get Queen Anne's lace growing wild there?

One of my favorites, especially when chicory grows with it.

Slab foundations are not very common in my area. The ground expands and contracts too much with the weather so our expansive clay could become really expensive clay with them.

Got my first ever flu shot today. I need some chicken soup and kleenex just in case.

I have never had a reaction to the flu shot except a sore spot from the injection. Good luck.

Screenshot_2021-10-22-08-38-22.png Nature at work. From my peach tree I don't spray. And don't get any peaches. To a tree I just let grow.

Oh I fully intend to blame EVERYTHING on that flu shot for at least a couple weeks. It is the 'Merican way to complain. Mail late---stupid flu shot; bird craps on my car--darn flu shot; back hurts after moving furniture, .... :)

Been working on my deck for a while. Got most of top done except the door. The whole thing is framed and covered in chicken wire. Just needs a door then a small roof addition.

When I replaced wood in the deck I sprayed it with diesel fuel. Then I started on the roof. Needed to get the rain off. It was raining every day. Went to look into 2x6 rafters and they were rather expensive. So after a thought I laminated 2 pieces of 1x6 together and clinched the nails. I even used old door frames to finish up. 20210914_171923.jpg Then put 1x4s crossways on 2ft. centers. 20210916_114735.jpg Then roofing metal.

Necessity is the Mother of invention or in this case ingenuity.
Nice peach tree back there does it bear peaches. The one that you call just a tree have you ever thought about grafting it? Might work..and bear fruit.

I don't get any peaches. I probably would if I sprayed it. Bugs get them. I will post more pics of the deck later.

The deck was in real bad shape. The stair stringer was rotten and the landing had rotten joists. I had all this wood from the house I tore down and especially a long 2x12 for the stair stringer. And 1x stuff for the tread. I sprayed everything with diesel fuel and boiled linseed oil when I had it. I also went under the deck and shored up spots weakened by the pressure of the stupid cement floor I put in. I tore the old cement out with a sledge hammer and just let it fall under the deck. 20211024_081149.jpg The grey stuff is heart pine. I will extend the roof over it and sand out the grey and use some timber oil on it.

These are some old fashioned chrysanthemums that I picked up at Petals from the Past Nursery in Jemison, Al. Mountainview Orchard is across the street where you can find great tasting apples and peaches. [IMG]

There's always something rather special about wild flowers to me. We've (My wife really) just sown a bit of our front lawn area as meadow flower, will be nice to see what it does next spring.

Cats, my wife wants the cats inside because she is afraid of outside dangers. I will then have room to either escape the cats or a time out room for them.

20211024_093945.jpg This is the door I am building. I wanted to do this job without buying any wood. You will notice the floor has lost grey green hue. I washed it with detergent and borax , let it dry and applied timber oil. I want a Japanese style sliding door. I will attempt to hang it from the top. I think I have some hardware and a steel rod to hang it on.

Don't forget to add a diagonal to prevent it twisting.
