Keep in mind, our system gives more disposable income to people versus other nations. You can't continue to give without take. I think this is where American who continue to think we should be more like Europe forget!

Universal preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds: Doesn't build anything
Four weeks of federal paid parental, sick or caregiver leave. Doesn't build anything
A year of expanded Child Tax Credits. Doesn't build anything
Extended pandemic-era Affordable Care Act subsidies. Doesn't build anything
New hearing benefits for Medicare beneficiaries, Doesn't build anything
$500 billion to combat climate change, largely through clean energy tax credits. Not only does it not build anything, it doesn't actually do anything.
An increase in the State and Local Tax deduction limit from $10,000 to $80,000. Doesn't build anything but it is a tax break for the rich in high income states.

Actually, is there anything in this bill that builds anything except for the $150 billion for affordable housing that will be a boon to landlords?

One only needs common sense and critical thinking skills to know what I said is correct.

Manchin has already gutted it, IMO. The one thing that was most imperative for me, personally, didn't even make it into this version they just passed: dental coverage for seniors on Medicare.

I have health care coverage with Medicare, but it does me little good with teeth and gums deteriorating to the extent that I can no longer chew solid foods without pain, and my gums are bleeding when I brush. Dentists are EXPENSIVE and I can barely pay my monthly expenses as it is, with runaway inflation on every needed thing. And I can guarantee you that, aside from gasoline, those higher prices are never going back down.

Maybe I should start a Go Fund Me page to get my teeth fixed. I need two implants to replace missing molars, gum surgery, a new bridge to replace a crumbling one that's nearly 30 years old, and a couple of fillings replaced. Any takers? Or should I contact Joe Manchin and get him to foot my dental bill? What do you think my chances are? (No, I don't neglect my teeth, I brush and floss every day, I use a good, flouride-based mouthwash, I'm very dilligent, but time marches right past all that effort.)

Once again, the Democrats can't seem to get out of their own way long enough to get much done that will actually help people.

A civilized society can be judged on two criteria: how we care for children, and how we care for seniors. We are failing on both.

I am genuinely sorry to hear about your problems. But when I was in the hospital, and they frankly EXPECTED me to die (which I did, at least once), the state of my dental health was not high on anyone's priority list. In fact, it wasn't on anyone's non-priority list, either, so now I need some expensive dental work myself, that I'm going to have to find a way to pay for. Why should I also be responsible for paying for yours, when paying for my own is going to be hardship enough? Sounds like you're much worse off than I am, even after years of being in and out of the hospital and my mouth being mostly ignored.

But at the risk of being repetitive, and acknowledging the fact that I do not know you, you are not my kin, my friend, in fact except for this post you and I never even knew each other existed until just a few moments ago, so at what point in time did it just become accepted that people like me would be paying the bills for people like you (meaning your dental issues, I mean no disrespect)? Sorry, man, but I got 99 problems, and you ain't one of 'em...

Lot of meat on that bone...

    1. Sorry about your teeth... yes, it seems damn silly Medicare doesn't include dental (or hearing aids, so I hear....LOL)
    2. Yes, Manchin and Sinema both have already had negative impacts on what most D's are wanting to provide. I'd root for both to be primaried, but Manchin is probably the only D that can win in W. Va... Sinema will face a strongly funded primary. We'll see what these 2 do to what was passed today, but my understanding is a lot of it was already agreed to in the Senate.
    3. I think most of the higher prices will go down within a year. I don't know how it is where you live, but gas has stabilized where I live... Same price I saw yesterday is what I paid 2.5 weeks ago... But it needs to go down, not just stay the same.

The main thing I agreed with them removing was free Community College. I'm all for public pre-K, to match other publicly funded schooling, but college is another story, even cheaper CC.... I'm also against simply waiving Student Loan debt, but that's another story.... More possible deferments, yes, but waiving, no.

You don't need to take my word for it, just listen to interviews that were done following the election to learn people who voted for Biden chose to vote against a Democrat because they didn't like his attitude against opening schools and saying pretty much parents had no say in the matter. I'm glad the Democrat incumbent was honest about it even though it most likely cost him his job.

You say you mean no disrespect, then blast me with a large measure of just that.

How do you figure that YOU must pay for MY dental work? Are you somehow under the impression that I'm a deadbeat of some sort? I worked and paid taxes for YOUR benefit as well as my own for nearly five decades.

Adding dental coverage for Medicare recipients is not going to break the nation's back, much less yours. Try not to take it so personally.

I'm glad you've survived your own ordeals. There's no need for you to be dismissive of mine.

Proving yet once again, the general American voting public is full of morons, because that's not what McAuliffe said...

Sad if that huge misconstruing of his 100% correct sentence cost him the election, but it appears it's better to be tall and lie versus stating simple truths...

Hope that's a lesson learned, but probably not...

Dems pursue another Red Ink Orgy As Inflation robs poor and middle-class incomes.

EVERYBODY’S DESPERATE, TRYIN’ TO MAKE ENDS MEET. WORK ALL DAY, STILL CAN’T PAY THE PRICE OF GASOLINE, AND MEAT. Meat prices are soaring as inflation bites U.S. consumers.

Since October of 2020 at the end of the Orange Miracle, "the price of meat, poultry and fish have all risen almost 12%.
The price of beef has climbed even further, soaring more than 20% over the last year.
    Chicken has increased 7.5%.
Pork 14%, labor data show. "

You got one thing right it changes the Trump millionaires tax increase when he killed the SALT tax break. Ofcourse the dems giving all those millionaires back their beloved tax deduction. I swear the left is the says one thing and does the opposite, it's so pathetic.

It's very simple, and I'm surprised you even need to ask. You expect "the government" to pay for your dental work. The problem is, the only money "the government" has is that which is has taken away from me and millions of other taxpayers. So, yes, ultimately, we are COLLECTIVELY paying for your dental work, which I feel no obligation to do. As I said, I've got my own dental work that needs to be paid for, I don't need to be paying ever more and ever more in taxes to fund other people's, including yours.

I don't know enough about you to have an opinion about that. But it DOES sound like you maybe should have saved a little more for your own golden years, since you apparently can't afford your own dental work, but even that is just a guess based on your own statements.

No, actually, you didn't. Other than my paycheck (which probably came out to about $3/hour) when I was in the Army, I've never taken a dime from any level of government. Even now, as a relatively new physically disabled person who can no longer even bathe or clothe himself, so far Social Security has successfully denied me the disability insurance that I paid premiums for for over 3 decades. But that's insurance, your dental health benefits (or lack thereof) are not.

Have you not been paying attention? The "nation's back" (financially speaking) has been broken since at least the mid-90s, if not earlier than that. But instead of CUTTING trillions of dollars from the bloated federal budget, which is what we should be doing, we're ADDING trillions to it. We shouldn't be debating whether or not to add this or that program, we should be cutting and eliminating existing ones. We don't have the money for new wealth transfer giveaways. Nor do we have it for the old ones, either.

It's funny that you say that, because the reality is, given my disability and 100% loss of my income, we (my wife and I) are probably not paying much, if any, for many of these programs. But, out of principal, I'm standing up for the people who are, including those evil, rich people, and myself back in the day. I'm also very much standing up for the principals of I'll pay my bills, you pay yours, and the guy down the street can pay his. I would also LOVE to get rid of property taxes, so people can ACTUALLY own their own homes outright, without any annual, never ending, and always increasing rent (that we call property taxes) due to the State, though I'll concede that's not really on point here.

But it's also not just about YOU and YOUR dental problems. It's the tens of millions of other people waiting for the government, using total stranger's money, to pay their dental and medical bills. And food, and free cell phones, and subsidized rent, and, and, and, and, and. It's about the trillions we JUST spent, the trillions from this bill the left WANTS to add to our debt anchor, and it's also about the trillions more they're gonna wanna spend on new stuff next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, and on, and on.

Thanks. I also hope you get yours taken care of, but I don't feel it's my (or anybody else's) responsibility to pay for it. That's on you.

even more insulting to people of faith, the plan excludes child care centers run by churches and religious institutions in its budget-breaking largesse. Secular and commercial child care centers qualify for money to enlarge their capacity; those affiliated with religion do not, an exception that scholars Brad Wilcox and Patrick T. Brown have called unconscionable and potentially unconstitutional.

Trump and the republican house and senate are the ones that killed SALT, what is your point. How can that possibly be hypocritical?

Dems pushing back to back inflation blow out Red Ink Orgies. "If the bill passes the Senate, expect this historically high gap in favor of the GOP to grow even larger"

That may be true, but that is because so many just want more free money and benefits for doing nothing. We all know it is true.

Second biggest item in the bill is a tax cut for the very wealthy.

Possibly, but unlike the T**** Tax Scam of 2017, millions of other people will get some real benefits as well...
