    True.

He could have beaten them to death with week-old baguettes?

    Too bad they ran.
    Total Bonehead Move.

They might have been given a reasonable bond amount that they could raise 10% of (to get pre-trial release).

Now once they are caught, they will be held without bail.

U.S. marshals, sheriff seek parents of Michigan school shooting suspect; lawyers say they are returning for arraignment

The search began after prosecutors announced charges against James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley, who face four counts each of involuntary manslaughter. Their attorneys said the couple left town the night of the shooting "for their own safety" and would return, while authorities said they are actively looking for them.

If a mother from the left wrote something in the vein of “As a female and a Realtor, thank you for allowing my right to bear arms. Allowing me to be protected if I show a home to someone with bad intentions,” we would not hear the end of it from Trump supporters.

This mother also sent an LOL to her son on the morning of the shooting saying next time make sure you are not caught after the school found him online searching for bullets to buy and a drawing of bullets with the words there is blood everywhere, and sent a warning to her.

No doubt this mother also considers herself to be a "responsible" gun owner

    You keep dodging my question.
I think this will be the third time I have asked:
Surely you know that crime stats are fudged in the UK.
    Or don't you know that?

    1. Even your official sources admit that any recent drop in crime is the result of the lockdowns. You noticed that - right?
    2. Bullet holes do vanish as a dead body decomposes. Have you ever seen a dead body in a state of advanced decomposition?

Focus here: "... bodies with significant decomposition changes are less likely to provide reliable, accurate causes of death due to the degradation of tissue and toxicology. ‘This can lead to bereaved families having more uncertainty regarding the death of a loved one.’”

As predicted, your standard MO, you've ran away from your claim. Lol at you thinking that bullets and bullet holes disappear in a two week old dead body. You clearly have no clue in forensics

Wonder if the word "responsibility" actually crosses her mind........Given her LOL message. Little wonder she missed the signals of her own son being troubled. But then violence has become 'normalized " that symptoms of angry , dysfunctional behavior are accepted and rationalized. ........

"Running" as they did........ only demonstrates again how little investment they have in parenting.

The so't comment about troublesome thoughts........is concerning and a red flag. He could have been delusional,, paranoid .........etc. A kid that fell through he cracks........ as mental health is just not a g big priority in this culture. If there was an amendment for mental health rights........that was as strong the one for gun rights........maybe things would be different.

I apologize. It looks like I missed the alert that you mentioned me.

I agree with everything you said and I blame us. Until we stop stigmatizing mental illness, people are forced to deny and hide behind their troubled mind instead of seeking help. I have had PTSD for decades and I have no issue with disclosing that I sought help because I couldn't handle it alone anymore. Guess what my doctor told me? It takes great courage to seek help when you need it. Even outside the stigma, some people just create a whole toxic circle around themselves by repeating destructive behaviors. I didn't realize how many people will NOT seek help and that makes me understand why that doctor said that.

We can do better. We should do better. This can't go on.

I was just reading more about the parents' arrest. Their bail is set at $500,000/each - $1,000,000 total.

I haven't been following this closely so I may have missed it. Does anybody know about the parents having criminal records?

These look like mug shots to me.

    Image5.jpg

    These do not.

    Image6.jpg

Also, this article indicates that the parents had a meeting with school officials a few hours before the shooting. Maybe that set them or him off.

And, it's dumb for them to plead not guilty when they fled. Duh. They've already shown they take no responsibility for their son or the aftermath of his homicidal behavior. And given that they did that, the bail might be too low.

The shooter is being charged as an adult so maybe they can have their toxic family put in one cell so they can live out the rest of their days trapped with the nightmares of what they've done to 11 people's (4 killed, 7 wounded (6 students, 1 teacher) loved ones and all the kids that witnessed what he did.

They are, because they were arrested less than 24 hours ago. That's where these photos came from.

Huh? Set the parents off? How?

Any lawyer worth anything would tell their clients to plead "not guilty" at this stage.

At this point of our "evolution"........... mental health should just be another health cares service. Not the big deal that it is....... And yet...... courageous folks like yourself are the exception..........not the rule.

Unfortunately ....in an aggressive society.......... which sees psych problems as a weakness............it will take some time to change that mindset. Seems that folks would rather solve their problems with weapons...........than try to understand why people can problems.........and encourage them to get help. Sadly some think that mental problems are used as an "excuse"...........as opposed to a REASON for behavior Many refuse to acknowledge that many of the folks with problems are in a lot of pain.......a pain that is as crippling as physical pain.

Lack of education is a contributing factor to this attitude ........and "ignorance" As is some built in prejudice.

Until attitudes change ....... folks like your self should be applauded. You are part of the positive change...........So, good on ya ...

We don't know what transpired at the meting........except that the kid was sowing signs of troubled behavior. and recommendations for assistance were made.

Maybe the parents did not want to hear that. They failed to notice / recognize/ acknowledge that he was troubled .........Seems he had been compalining about "intrusive" destructive thoughts.....

But buying the gun is WHY all those things were stupid. It's the causative factor of all of them

"My kid has been having these insane thoughts and is occasionally actually raving.. I think he's going insane. I know, I'll buy him a gun , that will make everything alright."

Every time I told my father that I didn't feel well he would say "Go drink a glass of water and lie down." It didn't matter what I said hurt, that was always the answer.

It sounds like these (loosely defined) "parents" thought giving him a way to act out his aggression would be limited to bottles and cans in the backyard.

I've met countless people along my journey called life and I have never met an interactive and proactive parent that has an out of control kid. Not one time.

I worked temporarily as a cashier at a 7/11. Every single day, without fail, a woman would come in, talk to the manager, start crying and he'd let her have two pepperoni pizzas. Her son absolutely refused to eat anything else and she couldn't afford them until she got her child support check on the 1st of the month. Then, she'd come in and pay off whatever she owed from last month and start the crying and begging when she couldn't pay for the pizzas until the following month. That was not perspective I understood. I grew up with parents that required us to sit at the dinner table and eat whatever was placed in front of us. It wasn't a negotiation and the kicker for me was this woman's son was 16 years old. He could legally get a part-time job at that age.

When our oldest was two years old we visited our next door neighbors. They were Italian and made homemade pizza. We brought salad and bottled water. While the pizzas were in the oven, the wife handed out salad plates to each of us and her husband, completely skipping over our toddler. She climbed on the table and grabbed some salad from the bowl while they watched in stunned silence. Finally, the wife asked us "How do you get her to eat salad?" I replied, "She doesn't have a job or a driver's license. She eats what we give her." To this day, you could offer my teenage kids junk food, fast food and/or dessert and they will always choose real food and bottled water or wait until they get home if none of that is available from the offerer. They will choose reading or science experiments or baking something over watching television and they will offer to help with chores or errands without being told to do it.

I have never spanked or yelled at my children. I have never hit them, raised my voice or threatened them. I have never even been angry at them in their entire lives and the primary reason is childhood is a time in which kids should be able to explore the world around them and receive guidance and support when they make mistakes. I don't get worked up over everything. I told them they can't kill each or do some dumb sh!t I have to try to explain to an ER doctor. Everything else had some wiggle room. Of course I didn't allow them to things that were extremely dangerous but I also avoided teaching them there is ONLY ONE way to do something. I'd like them think it through, try their way and see how it worked out. One time my daughter asked me if she could eat a raw onion (the way one eats a whole apple). I told her that she could certainly do that, but I wouldn't advise it. She grabbed some onions I peeled for a sauce, bit it and two seconds later asked "Do you ever get tired of being right?" LOL But, now she knows versus me making that a directive so it won't be a hinderance to her in her own adulthood.

When we are too harsh, we create people that don't have the ability to independently think through any problem because they are terrified of making mistakes. When we are too lenient, we create people who become self-entitled and unwilling to adjust their attitudes to a society that will on moving with or without them and it won't be on their terms. Kids are not mini-adults. They are impressionable, easily hurt and very connected to whatever environment they had their formative years. Just about anything can upset that balance because that's all they know.

Many, many years ago, I met a woman in her 80s. I would pick her up and take her to lunch sometimes. Every day she came out, she had two gigantic red cheeks. I never commented or asked about it but one day she volunteered the reason behind it. Apparently, when she was growing up, her mother would tell her to put on rogue because she was "too pale". Instead of reprocessing that as an adult, she followed her mother's orders long after her mother had passed and struggled with looking at herself in the mirror until she had patted on gobs of that stuff.

And, of course, you and I have had many conversations about former President Trump. His father is long gone but he is still stuck in the mindset that he must never appear vulnerable. He hasn't been able to self-actualize because he has no frame of reference. What he is now perceiving as a "witch hunt" against him is how our government works. It's not like his private businesses where he can hire anybody without the usual employment processes other companies use. He has fired countless people for no reason other than they disagreed with him. He doesn't know how to process the word "No." and to make his own termination make sense, he has created a conspiracy from scratch and shockingly has convinced some of his supporters that it's real. He will always believe in his alternate reality because he has no ability to recognize that he's missing quite a bit of normal adult processing. At this point, the only hope is his daughter tells him that he needs to see a mental health professional (she's the only one he won't pitch out on her ear) but she's unlikely to do it because she is a product of him and is just as slimy, deluded and self-serving. The whole thing is just mountains of toxicity.

So, I have to admit I'm at a loss as to why these "parents" were not parenting. And, as harsh as it may sound, this is a prime example of why I'm pro-choice. Some people just don't need to have a tiny, vulnerable human around when they are stone-cold idiots. By refusing to remove their son from the school property when asked shows exactly how they "problem solve." Fleeing the authorities also shows that and the disclosed text messages between them and their son show that. This didn't go off the rails overnight and all the people that saw the signs and did nothing are complicit in the murders of 4 children and 7 other wounded people. It's high time we stop pretending these are isolated incidents and it can happen to us. As a kid, I prayed every single day for my father to come home alive (he was a Chicago police officer). Now, I have the exact same restlessness hoping my kids do not become victims of a peer showing up at their school with a gun. No parent should have to worry about that so we are way beyond time to get this sorted.
