Yes, every generation in this country has seen the news with political and propaganda agenda. Remember Gulf of Tonkin propaganda/'news'? I do.

Some of us know very well how dishonest the government is. Some of us know that in the hands of skilled propagandists like Goebbels, Bernays or Fauci, the public's perceptions are easily manipulated.

So to your point, many people do understand that conspiracy theories become conspiracy facts quite often. But you're right, perhaps most people are unable to be that honest with themselves? They need some authority figure to tell them how to think about any given topic.

 

I don't think anyone is downplaying potential injuries. They are saying correctly that they are very very rare and that the chances of injury from an infection are many times greater. There is risk in nearly everything in life. You get to choose which risks you take.

The injuries are NOT very rare, and neither are the deaths. Those numbers are suppressed by the government and its lackeys in the media, and thus ignored by very well meaning but extremely gullible citizens.
