    snip

Australia on Tuesday suffered its deadliest day of the pandemic as a fast-moving Omicron outbreak continued to push up hospitalisation rates to record levels..........................

Australia is dealing with its worst COVID-19 outbreak, fuelled by the Omicron variant of the coronavirus that has put more people in hospitals and intensive care than at any time during the pandemic.

    end snip

    so let's see

    draconian rules complete with

    lockdowns
    internment camps
    arrests for moving around cities
    masks masks everywhere

yet the virus is going to do what it's going to do.

Eventually the folks of Australia will tire of their incompetent leaders and learn to live with the virus much like we do with every other virus

These kinds of celebrations are becoming the norm among the populist mainstream republicans. A FOX News anchor clapped her hands on-air when she heard a Trump critic had Covid.

    correct

but open your eyes. We've been told to look to the tyranny within Australia as the way to deal with Covid

    not so much

sure, and would you care to discuss your Democrat voting counterparts and their celebrations over those who do not vote Democrat, and bad things happen to them?

Would you care to comment about how despite tyranny, Australia still has Covid and maybe they wasted 2 years because Covid is coming no matter what imprisonments, arrests etc they try

You go ahead. I have no interest in jumping into every rabbit hole you dig to promote whataboutism

I'll let you worry about Australia. I mind my own business.

Maybe the Aussies need to educate themselves with Ben Franklin

"Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

    Australia Covid deaths = 2 700
    US Covid deaths = 850 000

Hmmm.........The "deadliest" day the OP is here to celebrate is 74 while our deadliest day is 3,915, or 54 times higher than Australia.

In context he was arguing for a tax hike to pay for military. Its not the opposite of what you think it means, but pretty close.

Which metric would you like to use to compare Australia's response to America's?

Total deaths, deaths per million, total cases, cases per million, active cases, active cases per million, fall in GDP as a result of covid?

    Go look it up.
I warn you though it's like comparing Australia and the US at cricket.

Yes. Obviously. People have raved against Australia's efforts to combat the pandemic, and now they think the "deadliest day" proves them right, but it falls flat when their worst day is 74 vs US worst of nearly 4000 (yes, more than 9/11). Much like the FOX host who clapped her hands on air to celebrate a Trump critic having Covid. The problem with such celebration is the fact that Australia's approach seems to have worked in keeping their numbers very low (whether or not one agrees with their approach). Your country, your rules.

    lockdowns
    imprisonment despite testing negative
arrested if you escape covid prison
cannot be outside too far from your home address
    arrests for buying fast food

are those really public health measures or tyranny?

Yes. Do the math. The death toll in US is way worse than Australia no matter how you look at it.

No. Someone was extolling the virtues of a locked down society vs an open one and the covid battle and I picked sides.

It's those damned Trump supporters in the US. If it wasn't for them, Australia wouldn't be in this predicament.

    hear hear

we however must begin to educate our youth before it's too late and they believe what Democrat politicians espouse and the media which parrots the talking points

A Democrat vote is a threat to liberty

There is also the question; is Covid being used as an excuse to impose tyranny and bring about the 'One World Government' - or as it's now called: 'The Great Reset?'

There is a land that I come from
I know, I know, you think we're dumb
    - and then some
for having given them our gun.

So now we're locked up in our home.
We can't go out. We cannot roam
    and yet believe so stupidly,
the lies that they keep telling me.
