    That’s correct.
If Ukraine seizes to exist then more countries will want nukes and no country would be willing to give them up, as new security assurances will not be worth the paper they are written on.

Well, if you thought they were going to much happier with Biden, it looks like they don't share your view.

THE ADULTS ARE BACK IN CHARGE? Joe Biden’s gaffe may have inadvertently revealed the truth about his Ukraine policy.
It gave me the impression that Biden and Putin had already worked this out behind closed doors.
That could very well be the case.
The job is is beyond his capacity.

Hopefully in 290 days we'll have a Congress that makes itself heard when Biden starts acting like he along makes decisions like this on behalf of the American People.

Unfortunately so, and failing to uphold the commitments we made in the Budapest Memorandum will reinforce the message that Joe Biden sent to the world during his botched Afghanistan withdrawal - America is not a reliable ally.

Knowing Vlad the Invader as we all do, this will only double his incentive to invade Ukraine.

PS. I don't think Putin wants to wipe Ukraine off the map - I think he wants a land bridge to the Crimean peninsula. In either case, the negative messages that U.S. inaction would send will be the same.

They stabbed him in the back after he supplied them with combat weapons. Biden/Obama refused to send weapons, instead sent pillows and blankets. I guess they could always throw the blankets over the Soviet tanks.....maybe they'll crash when they can't see where they are going. They wanted Biden.....they got 'em, good luck and skip the gutter. They aren't a NATO member so they're on their own with Vlad.

i'm really asking what all you armchair field marshals would advise. we know that trump ****ed up afghanistan by surrendering to the taliban, and that he will claim to be smarter than any general,

as for yellow streaks, are you volunteering to defend donbass in the winter?

Then why didn't you really ask that instead of bleating "what would trump do?".

We armed their militaries. When the Russian-backed separatists started moving through Ukraine, it was the local volunteer militias that stopped them, not the Ukrainian military whom we had already armed to the teeth. People always fight harder for their own home than they do for someone else's. Arm The People and let them decide their own fate.

Ukraine has stupid and inflexible gun laws. I’ve been advising my friends and relatives who live there to buy weapons illegally, just in case. As far as I know, the proximity of the war zone resulted in their weapons black market having abundance of AK-47 and hand granades.
I also have a friend who says he will stay and if Russians come, he will join local guerrilla gangs and cause damage from behind.
Defending your own home is a powerful motivation.

You already know what Trump would have done and you went the other way. So explain to me why the Biden administration is flirting with war over a corrupt failed state?

Sorry but this sounds crazy to me. I don't see how risking a nuclear war with Russia is worth it to the United States because Western Europe was too stupid not to get rid of nuclear power in exchange for dependence on Russian natural gas. We can't stop their stupidity but we shouldn't double down on it in order to risk war. Frankly, if Germany wants to be energy dependent on Russian gas it's hard to justify having them in NATO.

I can understand why Russia would not want Ukraine in NATO. I think we should assure Russia that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO in exchange for peace.

If that offer is made, and the Russians invade anyway, I think Europe has to step up and cut off diplomatic and economic relations with Russia, essentially treating them as a pariah.

The US should do the same, but it’s pointless if the rest of Europe doesn’t do it.

I’m fine with providing weapons to Ukraine for their own defense.

Under no circumstances should the US get involved militarily. I doubt that our European friends want this war. I think they would drag their feet or stay out altogether, leaving it all to us. And more importantly, the lives of our children serving in the military are not outweighed by the needs of Ukraine.

And finally, our last president didn’t get us into any new wars during his term. I definitely don’t want Biden bumbling his way into one, and especially not one with a nuclear power.

Well if you are making an argument for war with Russia of all countries, I think the onus is on you to make the case.

Another argument is that it makes it look like anytime Russia or China wants land or a sea all they have to do is wave their stick to the cowardly Americans

The USG has a very long and rather consistent history of betraying its allies.

    Just ask the Kurds.
