You know what's funny. Assad is a legitimate president chosen by his people. America demanded the overthrow of Assad. The way that Europe walked into that conflict, is a history, of which it sounds like you must certainly be aware: other countries failed to stand up to Hitler's pretextual invasions. Vladimir Putin is, currently, following that same path of failing to respect sovereign borders: the thing that has spared us from the "bloodbath" wars, you mention, for three-quarters of a century.

It is a grim irony that even those who have studied the past to learn its lessons, fail to benefit from them, because of their failure to recognize the clear parallels of current events to that past history, until after the fact.

China & Russia have been discussing the benefits for each, in pursuing their own interests, by allying in opposition against the U.S., in particular, but also NATO, & the West (they, of course, each already have permanent vetos, on the UN Security Council). But to regard a supposed, non-binding, verbal promise from a democratic leader/administration, who faces election every four years, to still have any force, 3 decades later, is a bit ridiculous; yet I lack the word to describe your defending the idea that Putin's tenuous claim should be appropriate justification for the huge military buildup which has brought things to the brink of the hostilities, which you issue strong cautions against-- directed, apparently, only towards the U.S. and NATO.

They showed a photo of a permanent military base, where the deployed equipment returned after the exercise, and it was announced that this was a springboard for the offensive.

This is nothing more. Tell me the coordinates of this base - I will check it myself and prove my case. Coordinates are not written anywhere - so that people cannot check.

Show new photos - where you can see how the contingent of troops and support services is increasing day by day.

And sure, I'd love to get paid for the weapons we sent them, and I'd love to get repaid by all the welfare deadbeats that took their advanced child tax credit payments and will never repay them, but neither of those things is likely to happen.

 

Everyone is so sure that Russia wants war .... only in Russia itself they don’t know about it. I suspect that when there is war again in Ukraine, Russia will not come to it again.

I was a naive guy before 2014. I believed in the concept of “brother nations”. I thought that far right western Ukrainians were paranoid about Russia and it would never violate Ukrainian borders. Pootin proved them right.

8 years of constant confrontation in Ukrainian hot zone on the East gives Ukrainian and separatist forces some very valuable experience.
