If you are a Fox fan. Or a fan of any of the extreme-right media personalities like Alex Jones or the folks at Breitbart (and similar), the idea you have in your mind of BLM is some sort of "ideological" organization funded by George Soros and, maybe, Bill Gates, ... which is trying to take over the world from the good white God-fearing folk. But what Black Lives Matter wants is actually very simple: they want cops to stop disproportionately killing black people. Simple as that! It's a loosely organized "movement". ANYBODY can claim to be a BLM Organizer or a BLM activist. Anybody can declare any rally or any protest to be BLM. Any group can claim to be a "Chapter" of Black Lives Matter Because there is no set of rules or requirements. There is no membership or fees or ID cards. All they have to do is... say that they are BLM. But BLM (maybe unintentionally) stumbled upon something that is a reality: institutional racism. This means that the reason black people are killed more often is not because the cops involved are racist (most aren't), but because racism is built into the system. This is confusing to the right. They would prefer to try to excuse the actions of individuals, rather than acknowledge that it's the system (not the individuals) that is racist.
It is a myth that they disproportionately kill black people. More whites are killed by police than blacks, about twice as many. The disproportionately that you are referring to is the media coverage. According to media coverage, no whites are killed by the police, only blacks. Every single time a black is killed by police it makes the news. It hardly ever makes the news when police kill a white person.
So wait, I can just claim to be a BLM leader and they’ll give me millions of dollars and I can peace out and live my life amongst gated white people communities? Sweet
BLM doesn't bother me at all as a slogan or movement. 'Defund The Police', stupidest three words ever linked together in a decade. Unfortunately, those three words will be forever linked to BLM.
You should have learned by now that what Tucker Carlson (or Hogan, or Alex Jones.. or whichever wingnut you are listening to) tells you is always FALSE! https://mappingpoliceviolence.org/ https://jech.bmj.com/content/75/4/394 OR https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/investigations/police-shootings-database/ One day you'll learn that repeating nonsense only because you heard it on the radio is not going to make you look good.
can you next “demystify” institutional racism. Because when you can’t point to a policy and only point to an effect(dead black person), you’re basically saying we should believe in Sasquatch because you found a weird footprint in the snow and the sheer number of footprints is absolute proof of your claim. Black people are everywhere in the police force, across all departments and ranks. Funny how those claiming systemic racism are those who have never actually been in the system and therefore have no idea whatsoever what they are talking about. if systemic racism existed you’d have black officers and support personnel quitting in droves and speaking out against this very problem. We wouldn’t need keyboard warriors with zero credibility and zero knowledge to do the talking.
The situation is so desperate that anything that will draw attention to the problem is fair game. Even though "defund the police" intellectually sends the wrong message, it does draw attention to the fact that the problem can only be solved with extreme measures. So I completely understand the slogan.
If you look at the numbers, more whites are killed by police than blacks. You are using cherry picked information. About twice as many whites are killed by police than blacks. Of course you wouldn't know that by watching the news because the only ones they report are blacks being killed by police.
BLM was founded in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman. The media portrayed Trayvon as this innocent little boy who was doing nothing but minding his own business when this white guy (he wasn't white) just decided to up and follow him for no good reason and then kill him for no good reason. After Zimmerman was acquitted BLM's founders Patrisse Khan-Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi started up BLM. Ostensibly to fight against systemic racism because they saw Zimmerman being acquitted as the act of a racist system. They have since focused on "unjust killings" of black people by police. Of course to them ANY killing of a black person by police was/is considered "unjust". As evidenced by the fact that they supported the likes of Michael Brown in the whole "Hands up Don't Shoot" lie. Even after finding out by MULTIPLE witnesses that such did not happen. They claim to fight for "Black Lives" yet they never address the killings that happen among black people. The very name itself suggests that no other lives matter. (whether you want to acknowledge that is irrelevant, it does suggest that like it or not) Why? Because its exclusionary. As if no other race gets killed "unjustifiably". In order to support their "position" they take statistics out of context. For instance they include ALL black people killed by police regardless of the details of each case. Showing that they're not actually aiming for "unjustified killings by police" or "ending systemic racism". They're just out to make a buck.
"Institutional racism" is not a policy. Your road to understanding institutional racism starts here: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/what-does-critical-race-theory-teach.589535/
Please look up the meaning of the word "disproportionately". In the future you might want to do that BEFORE responding to a post that contains big words.
at Institutional racism means the more competent succeed and that fact means dispropotionally fewer blacks succeed.
Look, I realize that in order for you to prove your case you have to cherry pick stats. If you look at the facts, police kill twice as many whites than blacks but if you watch the news, the media make it look like it's all blacks who get killed by police and no whites because that is the agenda they are trying to push. So, spare me your cherry picked facts.
Damn right it’s not a policy. It’s a myopic piece of pseudo-thought that’s unquantifiable and as such it is worthless garbage that you kicking the can down the road to another thread does even less to support. you even say “road to understanding,” like it’s a religion. Does it bother you that you sound like a cultist?
It was the system. According to the current rendition of the BLM website, BLM is about the death of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin was caught vandalizing county property. When he was stopped, he was found to have in his possession jewelry stolen during a burglary. Rather than paying a non-lethal price, he was suspended. He ended up 250 miles away from his home casing his father's neighborhood which is where he caught the attention of the Zimmerman dude. Had Obama, Arne Duncan, and Eric Holder not rewarded neighborhoods that kept school kids from being arrested, Trayvon would be alive today. But Promise Neighborhoods saved Trayvon
Any killing is suspect. Because there are so many caught on camera that you have to wonder how many were not caught on camera. Which makes absolute sense given that statistics show that killing of black people is so disproportionate.
I expect serious posters to have read the facts, statistics, studies, .... which I have already posted numerous times. The rest need not bother.
Of course you would say that. Because you have been taught that the color of the skin determines how competent people are. And that "white skin" has "supremacy" over others. That is precisely where the term "white supremacism" originates.
"Road to understanding" is religion? Understanding is the OPPOSITE of religion. Religion is about KNOWING without the need to understand. Like, for instance (just an example), you KNOW that Trump is innocent of the crimes he has committed despite the fact that anybody who sees the evidence understands that he is not.
No. The fact that killing people (especially black people) is legal in Florida was the origin of the hashtag on twitter. Nothing more. What they seek now is for police to stop killing them.
Looks like someone doesn’t know how preachers talk. How’s about you get on the road to understanding how religion crafts it’s messaging and then you’ll be on the pathway to full knowledge my brother. Lol
