No. Never say that again. How dare you say that an entire group of people are violent because “they might be a terrorist”. That is no justification and relies on racism. Russians are not monolithic and have their own thoughts and feelings. They don’t deserve to be segregated and treated as inferior because they are Russian.

If a Muslim country did what Russia is doing, I'm certain that Muslim students from that country would be rounded up and deported. But now that a Dem politician is suggesting it and it is Russian students, the right seems to be up in arms...

I don't support the deportation of the students, as they (along with most other Russian citizens) are victims in Putin's actions. But I hope our country is consistent with their views of other countries and how we treat their citizens on our shores.

I didn't say all of them are violent, I specifically said its enough if ONE OF THEM commits an act of terror thinking US is now the enemy of Russia.

Their president is threatening us with a nuclear war, so yes they do deserve it. Some are calling NHL to ban Russian players, after at least one Russian player, who is a big Putin fan refused to condemn the attack on Ukraine. He just danced around it with "well.....Putin is my president, so......".

Well, that one isn't completely out of the realm of possibility, but Swalwell is way off base on the students.

    Don't equate the 2 concepts...

No they don’t, and they’re not going to be terrorists. Terrorism almost never happens, it’s very rare. And even then it’s a distraction from the real national security threat that we will continue to ignore. Which is radical far right violence. Those students are good people and saying they deserve to be exported because they’re nationals of a foreign country means little to nothing. I know an Afghani who was in school. Does that mean he should be deported because the Taliban are in charge? You have to be careful when labeling an entire group of people as evil.

If Iran attacked Israel, we would probably deport Iranian students, and even the pro-Russia republicans would support the idea.

Oh sure it’s possible. But until there’s more proof than that? You need to be careful with what you call him.

I don't like Biden. I think he's corrupt af, incompetent, divisive and his policies are wrecking America.

But you won’t stop and call someone out when someone says something utterly untrue or unnecessarily mean. Will you?

How do we know they are all 'good'? Russians can be very patriotic and loyal to their leaders. Look at the comments by the Russian posters here.

Is he Taliban? Is Taliban threatening US with nuclear weapons? There were Afghanis who literally took up arms against the Taliban.

Russians have a long history of being evil, and they are involved in evil things now.

I am actually surprised that GOP is not ripping Biden for not having deported them already, because 'deportation' is the dearest word in their vocabulary.

While I hate the US idea of free speech, does it matter what they say and think? They’re allowed to have whatever opinion they want and can freely express it. You’re absolutely right. The Russian posters here are a problem but they can be dealt with the right way. Promote ways to handle misinformation. Use them in your arguments. Do you know the number of times I tell right wing posters to get better sources because they use trash sources? Use the tools that we know will work to clamp down on those who would cause harm. Don’t give into racism.

    Why does it matter?

"Intelligence officials explained how Fang used campaign fundraising, networking, and rallies to get close to up-and-coming politicians before abruptly leaving the country in 2015."

Swalwell was either dumber than dirt or he simply didn't care.

It doesn't matter what they think/say, but it proves there are plenty of Russians who are loyal to Putin, and freely push his agenda.

It has nothing to do with racism.

It matters because many Afghans chose our side and fought side by side with the US troops. They are the ones in US colleges. You think a member of the Taliban, a fundamentalist muslim, would even want to study in US?

Oh I am waiting for you to see the cognitive dissonance. Russians must be judged on their nationality but Afghanis don’t deserve that?

If these Russians had risked their lives fighting for US, it would change the story, but the truth is that they have not done anything except prove they come from rich / elite Russian families (or else they could not afford US college).

Wayne Gretzky is suggesting that Russia be excluded from World's Juniors Tournament, to be held in Canada this year. I feel for the players, but I agree that Russia should be excluded from any sporting events until this war is resolved. And if Russia succeeds, the move should be permanent. The rest of the world can no longer allow Russia to participate in world events like these. Just my opinion...

In order to prevent higher and faster fuel prices. As to evicting Russians, it isn't the American way to do things. They are here for the love of freedom.

Well were buying more oil from Russia because of Joe Biden's policy's , but that will end soon Russia will be selling that oil to china and much more.

As for kicking Russians going tom school here out of the nation , big difference between that and putting japs in interment camps in ww2.
Telling them they have to go back to Russia isn't even comparable .
Personally I could care less if every Russian and Chinese and Iranian and Pakistani ,Palestine that go to school here out of the nation for good. I don't think they should go to school here in the first place.

I agree that we should not be kicking out Russian students but your comparison to Japanese families is not a fair one. Those Japanese families were Americans. These Russian students are not. I could accept the idea of denying all future Russian student visa applications but I do not think it is a good idea to kick the students on visas out.

They are here because their parents are connected and can afford to send their kids to US college.
