I wouldn’t say that. I may not follow the republicans in lock step but I go with their beat far more than democrats

I agree. I think if a country is going to have nuclear weapons, they need to abide by a set of principles that include not using military force to expand their borders. If MAD is going to be relevant, everyone has to play by the rules. If there is a mad dog that doesn't, it needs to be put down, or the planet becomes unlivable. How to go about putting down that dog is a tricky problem. I think he is bluffing, and he would back down from a true show of force that included the threat of making Moscow into a glow in the dark crater. But he just might be that crazy. So, I am not sure yet what to support. What I do know is that Russia needs to be punished until the Ukraine has been rebuilt and Putin has been removed.

Not if he is threatening to use nuclear weapons if anyone interferes. That is using the threat of nuclear weapons to do whatever the hell he wants. So, no, its not working.

I'm not sure where to draw a red line either.

Briefly put, the red line is at the point where we have done the most we can for Ukraine without initiating a full blown WW 3.

Well I was thinking more about the Democratic voters that took this poll. I'd imagine there's more variability there than you'd find in the politicians. And whether it's the media play or the stark gall of it, Russia's invasion here is a much bigger deal than other recent wars. And much more present in media.

I think Biden should go to congress to get congressional approval to put a no fly zone in place then discuss with them what a redline should be. I would make it that if we see one missile fly towards our planes or carriers that they will face the full force america has to offer.

If you are talking about American (or NATO) troops going up against Russian troops, then yes, it's just that simple.

Clearly that is not the case .. as many nations are interfering. So .. apparently it is working... Biden has refused to send Troops .. facilitate the Polish planes ... hands off ... they have sent in some defensive weapons .. anti tank .. anti aircraft .. but MAD is to prevent Russia attacking a nuclear nation .. ..thus far Russia has not attacked such a nation .. so MAD is working just fine .. thusfar.

The last time I can recall was 2012 during the presidential election. It's interesting how the Democrats turned on that. Which was my point.

Hindsight and no offense to Russians, but our leaders should have allowed Patton to conquer Russia before they acquired the nuke. I have no doubt that our military could whip Russia now in a conventional war. But their nukes tempt madness.

Yup, and then there was all the sucking up to Russia and blaming Bush for Putin & Co.'s hostility towards the U.S. before that...

And all of that ass kissing was going on in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Georgia in 2008.

The same thing that drives many Democratic issues - intolerable human suffering and extreme injustice

I'm afraid that sending US pilots in US planes to enforce a no fly zone in Ukraine at this time would be a mistake.

I think that giving Ukraine our best SAM systems would be less of provocation.

I remember the Cuban missile crisis and was more comfortable with old, WW 2 Russian Veterans who vividly remembered the true horrors of a world war in charge of things.

For some reason, I feel that this younger generation Russians with their finger on the trigger might not be as reluctant to initiate a significant nuclear exchange.

That was an just an attempt to RESET.

Trump rushed them right into the White House as soon as he was elected. And trump has publicly adored putin for his "genius" in attacking people who have done nothing.

If you hear Hillary adoring putin for his war crimes and mass murder of innocent people, let me know.

It's the truth. Psychologically, righties are most driven by issues of security. Lefties are most driven by issues of liberty. We see that here. The left puts the liberty of Ukrainians over immediate concerns of their own security - ie starting a war with Russia. Rightes worry more about WWIII

What if they start taking country after country, by less humanitarian means? Russia has been brutal, but not nearly as brutal as they could be. The russian military specializer in artillery type weapons. They could start leveling cities, slaughtering any resistance there before walking in to mop up like they did in chechnya. What if they do that to finland and sweden? Do we stand by then? Where do we draw that line?

The Ukraine is taking volunteers. So are you going to sign up?

Should we jump at the chance to go to war lead by a President who dodged the draft when he had the opportunity to fight and then as President snatched defeat from the Jaws of victory in Afghanistan?

When I read comments about going to war to defend Ukraine, I have to wonder if they teach history any more, e.g., the history of how WWI started, or the history of the Vietnam war? The thing being ignored is that once a nuclear exchange between the US, NATO, and Russia kicks off, life on earth is over.

I don't recall that in 2012, but hey, maybe it happened. I definitely recall Trump, Carlson, and their followers praising Putin, even fairly recently.

Trump isn't president anymore, so he can't lead any such war.

That was an exercise in ass-kissing, self-loathing and appeasement that resulted in Russian tanks rolling into the Crimean peninsula, and of course, Putin is exploiting their weakness again. Now, the security situation in Europe is the worst it's been since 1945.

Are you totally unaware that Biden is a draft dodger? The football hero that claimed to have asthma. The comment about Trump is a strawman fallacy if serious.

I'm aware that Trump is a draft dodger and was the one who actually surrendered to the Taliban. Were you unaware of those facts?
