A deft summary of a foreign policy philosophy in 3 tweets.

Do any of the forum libertarians object to this view?

So we go in with a huge air armada that doesn’t exist to land on landing strips that don’t exist to airlift 40 million people under constant bombardment with zero means of defending that operation because we aren’t willing to use any of the means necessary in doing so, and then I guess chloroform however many millions who aren’t willing to leave, bind them up and forcibly remove them via aforementioned air armada that doesn’t exist?

    Reality sucks.

That's not a Libertarian response. It's an ignorant response. Furthermore, maybe that is what we should have done with Syrians, but there was that Muslim thing that Libertarians did not want to address to begin with.

If that's not the libertarian response, what is?

It's not Russia that's the problem, it's Putin. He fancies himself as the new Katherine the Great. He want's to grab all the territory and riches he can and be remembered when he's dead as a great Russian.

I'm a "l" libertarian, but I can't exactly agree with this. We had an agreement with the Ukraine, we should honor that.

Hell that sounds like what we did to the Kurds when they were attacked by Turkey, minus airlifting them out of the country with full citizenship, and cutting off business ties with the aggressor.

    Impractical and stupid.
How about property left behind? Why should these people be forced to learn another language and adopt to a foreign country? Willingness to defend own country against an armed aggression is pure patriotism, not necessarily nationalism.
With this stupid worldview, one could conclude that any person that defends their country against an armed aggression by a much larger aggressor is a nationalist. We should go into Cuba and fight their nationalists defending their country. Come on, everybody hates nationalists, so they are a fair game! Or pick any country, as only nationalists would defend their homeland.

Our paths don't cross that often, but when they do, you are becoming one of my favorite posters here. This post stands as a good example of why.

Well I think that's really the implication of Cathy Reisenwitz's tweets, above, that, if Ukranians wanna go be all "nationalistic," then f*** 'em.

Appropriate enough that this is spelled on Twitter because-- while certain Libertarian concepts are worthwhile additions, to blend into one's overall political philosophy-- pure Libertarian ideas, and politicians like Rand Paul, tend to be simple-minded.

I dunno whats 'libertarian' about this. Im fairly libertarian, my view is send them craptons of battle rifles and AT4s and let them each decide whether they want to shoot Russians or be Russian.

It's not very libertarian for the rest of the world to dictate to Ukrainians that they have to abandon their country. In fact, it is rather authoritarian.

Since it is an ignorant, ridiculous post made by an immature person with no common sense, I simply wonder why anybody would post it here.

To be honest, I thought it was a joke and folks were pranking these two because, ya know, like Valley girl speak and world events ya right...

Libertarians simply want to be able to live absent the shackles of government and live in a society that respects that. An invasion should rightly then create the internal defense, and other like minded folks should want to assist them in wresting their nation back from those who would subjugate them and their liberties. To call that "nationalism" is to miss the point entirely. Please tell me that neither one of these twitter mavens actually has a job at the state department...

why do you call it libertarian?

I'm afraid its for you to explain why you think its libertarian.

Since when was getting involved in other peoples wars a libertarian response?

That was not the implication I got from that tweet. In fact, she does care, which is why she proposed the massive refugee program, aka airlift everyone out. However, a pure Libertarian would not even suggest that, more likely, we don't get involved in any way, shape, or form. Survival of the fittest would determine who wins and who loses without any interference from anybody, including a massive refugee airlift.

I think that's the point. A nationalist would defend his country because that country is their home. A non nationalist actually would defend just the private property they own, but defending their entire country because of some atavistic attachment to a homeland? Ridiculous. Only the nationalists will be in their foxholes defending their nation. Everyone else will be checking flights out of the country.

And now we know why. Can we sue the university that issued her a diploma that created these opinions in her and got her the jobs she has today??
