It's just plain astounding the total disrespect that the Republican party has for our democracy.

 

For what legislative purpose are they investigating what they are putting into Trump's head?

For what legislative purpose are they investigating his legal political rally that day?

 

??? Not sure where you're going with this.

The rally is part of the evidence, obviously. And, Trump is certainly one of the perps.

 

Congressional investigations and subpoenas are only allowed for the purpose of legislation. Congress is not authorized to simply investigate to investigation and especially not to conduct investigations for the purpose of trying to find crimes committed.

The rally was perfectly legal and fully authorized with all the necessary permits. Congress does not authorize such permitting nor has anything to do with approvals for it or enforcing such laws.

 

Congress has a record of selecting prosecutors to carry out that part of the problem they see. Republicans were WILDLY excited about selecting a prosecutor to go after President Clinton's sexual indiscretions - even though that had absolutely nothing at all to do with governance!

In this case, the root issue is that assault on the most fundamental precept of our government - democracy.

Plus, congress can turn over prosecution to the DoJ.

In this case, congressional power is important in piercing the federal protections that the Jan 6 traitors believed they were working under.

 

The Democrats Benghazi does not serve the interest of the United States. It's abundantly clear(and has already been made abundantly clear) that you have about as much of a 'case' here as Russian Collusion. What this serves as, is little more than a waste of our taxpayer dollars, in the midst of a financial and labor shortage issue.

 

NO IT DOESN'T. Where on earth did you get that idea. Name be a Special Prosecutor who was named by Congress? Congress has NO constitutional authority to engage in such investigations, you do know about separation of powers?

And that is a criminal matter not a legislative matter.

Congress cannot conduct criminal investigations.

I don't think anyone who was arrested in that riot believed they had any federal protections, what federal protection is there for attacking police and breaking windows? We already have legislation which makes that against the law.

 

You should give democracy more respect that that.

And, you should drive that home with your political party, as they have simply gone off the rails when it comes to our American values concerning government.

Russia, Iran, etc., have election police. And, now Republicans state that they want that, too.

 

It's not a criminal investigation if they don't find a crime.

The only 'election' police I'd ever want, is poll workers and the U.N independent watchdog for free and fair elections. That's it. Anything else invites corruption and thuggery.

 

Not sure there's criminality here, but it's now official that the wife of a SCOTUS member was actively pushing to overturn a valid election.

You would have to read the rules forming the committee. I know you have read them, because you posted a mis-read of them a while back.
It had something to do with a rule they couldn't mark up legislation. And it says that. Read up what a mark up is in relation to a congressional bill.
It doesn't say the committee can't introduce legislation.
Then, read the scope of the investigation. I think I saw the kitchen sink scandal in there somewhere. Point being, they didn't leave a whole lot out when they wrote that thing up.
But I'm sure you know the law better than all those lawyers.............
