The government deciding what is acceptable to be said is the very definition of infringing on the 1A.

Oh, I honestly agree that disinformation is a product of both parties. However the (D)'s surely took a serious lead when it came to disinformation.. Steele, Russian collusion, Golden showers, quid pro quo, border patrol whipping, vaccines prevent infections, children are dying from COVID, schools are hot spots for spreading the virus, lockdowns work, mask work, people are taking horse dewormer... the list is abundant..

I do not think its a good idea, however, for EITHER party to have such ability to deem anything as misinformation as then they can control the message... Just like the Hunter Biden laptop story that was squashed during the elections that truly prove could have changed the course of the election.

She was also the one who advocated that the Republican party funded the Steele Dossier. It shouldn't be called the "Disinformation Governance Board" but rather the "The Government Narrative Committee".

One of the worst policies ever implemented from the Bush's was the Patriot act.. Granted, the majority of the Democrats also supporter it, at least there were some sane ones that voted against it.

But is that what they will be doing? It doesn’t look like they will ever be saying that something is acceptable or unacceptable. They won’t censor anything, from what I can see.
What they might do is say “there are stories saying X. X is not true. The truth is Y”.

    No infringement of 1A there.

Just take a moment and think.... for just a a few minutes here... and think if Trump put a "Disinformation Governance Board" together to combat media disinformation... Would you honestly agree with this decision?

    Take your time... I'll wait.

I’m not saying I agree with the decision. I’m saying that people seem to be jumping to conclusions about what the board might be doing, and that it would infringe 1A.
It might infringe, it might not.

4 pages in and we still have no details on how this would infringe on the First Amendment. I've asked, but still no answer. If that's what they are up to, then we need to impeach the bastard . . . but they seem short on details.

No and I don’t think that’s the idea. My guess it’s to give these platforms help in spotting it and combating it.

Yes spotting criticism of Der Fuher Joe Biden and combatting it with force.

As Tucker emphasized in his show last night the DHS that has guns and bullets.

The problem in the first place was forming the DHS. Bush did that after 9/11. What has the department been good for?

So where are the liberals opposing this? None, zero. Self described Trump hating libertarians? No response. Fascism is fine with them.

They are sure not opposing it. One poster implied that Biden was elected he can oppress people all he wants and that post got 15 likes from libo posters.

Nobody has the character to oppose this?

ACLU called for the dissolving of the DHS 2 years ago. Of course they had to take some partisan shots at Trump.

I guess they will be silent now.

We still can't get a straight answer about what is ACTUALLY happening. If there's some actual attack on the 1st Amendment, let us know about it so we can fight it. If it is just the WH putting out press releases to argue against fake news, which is all it appears to be so far, then why oppose it?

Where's the actual attack on the 1st Amendment? Be specific. Nobody has the character to answer this?

This is exactly the kind of disinformation the new department is supposed to fight against.

The true source of tyranny is the left. Yet they always accuse the right of being so. Again the truism: That which the left accuses others of, is what they themselves are guilty of.
A lot of push back from lots of places has been in recent reportage on this, so would appear to be yes.

I knew you would defend it. Why would a libertarian be alarmed that a semi military agency of the government is evaluating speech?

I did not start this thread you can prove your Biden man crush with other posters.

So you are more bothered by people being critical of this fascism than the fascism itself? What a tool.

Can you actually articulate how the 1st Amendment is being violated? If so, you will be the first. I look forward to it. Nobody so far has had the honesty or character to provide an answer.

I haven't "defended" it. I'm asking where the actual attack on the 1st Amendment is. If all they are doing is putting out press releases, then they are EXERCISING the 1st Amendment, not attacking it. So why can't you actually articulate what is happening? I don't share your belief that press releases are fascism.

Unlike you and your ilk, I take thinks like fascism and Nazi comparisons seriously. I apologize for my integrity . . . I guess? Since that seems to be what you are pushing for.
