Yes, but he wanted to use our army.
That will no longer be necessary. :)

IMO, it is not in the interest of the US and the West for Russia to disappear.
It might be in the short term interest of China.

You have to wonder: Is the CCP in charge of Russian foreign policy?

Ukrainian minister of defense said today that they are building a capacity to support a 1 million army. They are about halfway there by now (about a month ago I saw a figure of 450,000). Once Ukraine has that force in place, considering their performance so far, Russia might turn into Ukraine’s b!tch. And I’m being serious now.

And you know what else? You know what else? Russia will continue to ignore this build up because the propaganda machine must continue to lie about Russian successes in Ukraine. Everyone in Pootins power axis knows that if they start telling the truth and start full scale mobilization then Russia will have a civil war, so the lie will continue for as long as physically possible and most Russians will realize this only after it’s too late.
    :roflol:
Girkin says - russian troops get no rotations and no rest while Ukrainians do everything according to the protocol - moving BTGs around and quickly replenish their losses, which results in accumulation of experienced, knowledgeable troops, who were tested in battle. Both Girkin and Arestovich are saying the same thing - Ukrainian troops crossing into Russia is a question of when, not if.

Of course, if Ukraine invades Russia and threatens the existence of the Russian state, that would fall within Russia's published doctrine for using nuclear weapons...

Bordering regions will have the war, not the heartland. 1 million army is a formidable force - if Russia uses nukes, they might have to pay with their fertile territories as compensation for contamination of Ukrainian lands. A non-nuclear country has a lot more options in taking down a nuclear state that it shares a long border with than a nuclear state. I can see a few realistic scenarios where Ukraine can slice chunks off Russia and get away with it.

They might have to do more than that - demilitarize russian border regions to prevent them from shelling Ukrainian territory.

nah...that's when it starts going wrong...they don't have the man power to start garrisoning troops in hostile territory....once the Russians are kicked out of Ukraine and Crimea the Russians will do the rest.

This is 21st century. You don’t need to keep your garrison. Seed a pro-Ukrainian Belgorod Peoples Republic and watch them organize a referendum and vote for reunification with Ukraine.
What is Russia going to do about it?

Russia set a legal precedent of recognizing these bogus polls. Who said the results of such referendums will always be in favor of being in Russia?

Yup....now various places on the globe can/may organize "referendums" and claim 120% turnout.....Kremlin doesn't have a legal leg to stand on here.

If existence of Russia is under the question it will certainly use nukes and then there would be noone in Ukraine to whom Russia has to compensate anything. I am pretty sure if Ukraine tries to take Crimea back the nukes will be used as well on the center where they make decisions -and that is Kyiv.
