    Guns. Again.

    Another reported dead from gunshot.

Once again, our gun laws and their level of enforcement were unable to keep this tragedy from happening.

On average, using 2020 data, a person in the United States of America dies of gunshot every 12 minutes. Every 12 minutes, 24/7/365.

    Guns.

    Again.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that all avenues of obtaining guns were sealed up -- do you really think a nut would not find another way of killing people? Bombs are easy to make, from what I've heard. You can find instructions on the Internet. And then there's always the trusty old knifes or machetes. Once again, guns don't kill people -- people kill people.

    Hi, Overitall.

Your question has an answer. There will always be some who will kill another human being. How many will do this, and how many individuals will die in each incident, depends upon the ease of availability of a weapon if one is used, its degree of lethalness and the number of people it can kill in a short space of time.

Guns are quite lethal when compared to other weapons. The ease with which a high capacity magazine gun can kill a number of people is great when compared to many other weapons.

Finally, a small correction. In instances of death by gunshot, the cause is the bullet. I place in evidence reports from coroners. The cause of death on those reports is not a person but, rather, a bullet.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n stay un-shot.

Bombs have the potential to kill more people than guns. It seems that using them is unfathomable as long as guns are available, thus my use of an assumption of all guns being taken out of the equation. People kill people.

    Hi again, Overitall.

Please see the addition to my post #4 above. It puts to bed the mantra 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people.' That old saw is well past it's 'use by' date.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "It puts to bed the mantra . . . ." Nothing you've stated rebuts the fact that guns (and bullets) are just objects that in the wrong hands can kill people. Weapons in and of themselves can do nothing.

    Hi again, Overitall.

I agree with your quoted post.

With regard to guns vs. bombs, there will probably always be someone like Mr. Timothy McVeigh who will use a bomb to kill people. Bombs, depending upon where and when they are detonated, can be more lethal in terms of the number of victims than guns. The frequency of bomb incidents, compared to shooting incidents, is low.

I believe we've covered the bases, so I'll end my responses to this thread now.

Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n remember the Big 5.

I for one don't accept this argument. A nut hypothetically finding other ways to kill people is not sufficient reason not to implement sensible laws to restrict access to weapons that make it devastatingly easy for a nut to wound and kill large numbers of targets. I have never seen a convincing argument for allowing people to have guns and ammo in their homes without any more restriction than passing a simple background check, either.

You look at other countries, they have tighter gun laws and far fewer mass shootings and other gun-related crimes. America is rather unique in enshrining access to weapons of war as a constitutional right and we pay a heavy price for it in blood and lives.

Didn't the latest mass shootings happen in New York? I thought that State had one the strictest gun laws.

    Doesn't always work.

Because it's not a national policy.

The Buffalo shooting was our 198th mass shooting so far this year, they're mostly local news now. This one is over 200...

    Which is utterly insane.

I don't see any reason why it should be a national policy.

A curiosity. Several people restrained and then tied up the shooter. They are witnesses. How is the shooter still a "suspect" ? He did it

Apparently even if it's on camera and people not only see you do it but restrain you somehow you're still a suspect, cuz lawyers. at least they got him.

How is it possible that in one of the states with the most restrictive laws on the books that this could happen

When will democrats understand that their laws haven't made an impact on the crime they say they want to stop, and they aren't willing go use the law to prosecute those who commit those crimes anyway?

I shot a bunch of bullets the other day into targets on a gun range. Oddly enough not a single one of those bullets killed anyone..... Were my bullets defective? they didn't have a mind of their own or something?

and I've never been assaulted by any of my guns nor have those guns perpetrated upon me, any acts of violence. My guns behave themselves

I think the same people who want to blame guns for things would also like forks to take responsibility for them being a giant fat ass.

All 50 states are subject to the second amendment. Subsequently, no state can restrict gun access in a meaningful way.
