    Another day... another school shooting.

So was the guy exercising his constitutional right? Of course I don't mean that killing children is a constitutional right. But some think that carrying firearms is.

What we have in this country is a gun epidemic. And it's even more sad when it's children who pay the prices for this disease. But there is at least one mass shooting per day now. And this is not going to stop just because some justice misrepresented the words in the Constitution. We need REAL restrictions.

There is no expectation to STOP this altogether. But we need to do as much as we can to reduce the number of instances, and the number of dead per instance. And we in the anti-gun crowd have so much in common with responsible gun owners that we could compromise on.

Why did I know it was going to be you who couldn't even wait until the bodies were cold?

We can stop this altogether just as soon as you repeal the gun free school zones act

Why do I get the feeling this opinion commentary is trying to create a blatant straw man?

Consider this: If you took away guns from this man, what else might he have done?

I think there would have been an incident, it just would not have involved a gun.
Or it might not have involved a legal gun. (Have you managed to get rid of all illegal drugs from the streets? No, I didn't think so)

Isn't carrying a firearm different than pulling it out for no justifiable reason?

Well... creating "gun free zones" is not a good way to do that, is it?
And yet gun control proponents seem to totally support that.

So you would have preferred I waited until the NEXT shooting. There is at least one mass shooting per day in this country. So there are ALWAYS warm bodies who died in a mass shooting.

    Not kill 15 people?

Gun control is not about doing something about THIS man. The guy is dead! It's about saving lives in tomorrow's mass shooting. We have at least one per day!

WASHINGTON — The United States is in the middle of a great gun-buying boom that shows no sign of letting up as the annual number of firearms manufactured has nearly tripled since 2000 and spiked sharply in the past three years, according to the first comprehensive federal tally of gun commerce in two decades.

The report, released by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on Tuesday — three days after a mass shooting in Buffalo left 10 dead — painted a vivid statistical portrait of a nation arming itself to the teeth. Buyers capitalized on the loosening of gun restrictions by the Supreme Court, Congress and Republican-controlled state legislatures.

The data documented a drastic shift in consumer demand among gun owners that has had profound commercial, cultural and political implications: Starting in 2009, Glock-type semiautomatic handguns, purchased for personal protection, began to outsell rifles, which have been typically used in hunting.

Embedded in the 306-page document was another statistic that law enforcement officials find especially troubling. The police recovered 19,344 privately manufactured firearms, untraceable homemade weapons known as “ghost guns,” in 2021, a tenfold increase since 2016. Law enforcement officials say that has contributed to the surge in gun-related killings, especially in California, where ghost guns make up as many as half of weapons recovered at crime scenes.

    https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/report/2021-firearms-commerce-report/download

It's actually unusual for a report of this nature to be released by a government entity since somehow the gun lobby arranged for a ban on studies about guns and gun possession. Cuz, you know, why would anyone want to learn anything about the epidemic of gun violence?

Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers. Now let's get out there and do absolutely nothing about gun violence so as not to offend the sensibility of all those "good guys with guns." The ones who think the problem won't be solved until there are 10 guns for every person in the US.

You waited a whole 2 hours before you started trying to make political hay out of the deaths of several children.

let's all slow clap for you

I don't know. Which one of these do you identify more with "bear arms": carrying a gun, or shooting it?

Once school starts every door needs to be locked. This should be the norm for every school in the US. No one should be able to just wander into schools throughout the school day. Can't get in, can't shoot it up.
Clearly we're a f'd up nation when we have this many people resorting to mass shootings as a way to deal with problems.

Carrying it ready for lawful use is how bear arms is used in the 2a.

No one said you got to randomly gun down children ffs.

I see, so you believe the general population cannot be trusted with guns.

Maybe they cannot be trusted to vote either.

That sounds like the conditions inside a prison, to me.

How is it a fire hazard to lock out people? As in can’t get IN to the school? Said another way, if you house door is locked, you can still get out, right?

Not as quickly. That has been proven countless times over the years.

    Besides you miss the obvious:

You don't need to get inside a school to carry out a mass school murder. The Jonesboro Arkansas shooting involved the two boys firing from a distance. Killed five.

"as soon as the bodies are cold" this incident will be ancient history and there will be a new pile of cooling bodies.

You must not be familiar with school doors. The doors open from the inside. It’s only locked on the outside. Push the bar and the door opens. It really is that simple.

So you should know school doors do not lock people in. They lock people out.

We also have a dishonesty epidemic in this country..... See the title of this thread for a perfect example of that.

Someone has not been doing their "research"
