the police often do that to suspects, do we want to make it illegal for the police to use such tactics, make it a crime to lie to suspects?

Of course not, but I think it should be used where the likelihood of exposing criminal action is present.

    A. This wasn't the police
    B. This man wasn't a suspect in a crime

~ I believe it should indeed be unlawful for police to lie to suspects during interviews /interrogation regarding the results of their investigation. In some states it already is.
Misleading suspects about evidence can often result in confessing to a crime — even if they are innocent.
There are many honest ethical ways to find truth without resorting to deception.

The prosecution has rested.... Defense is up... No word on if Sussmann will testify, although for the life of me, I don't see the upside for him...

Some interesting points about his billing habits in here. Hard to tell which way those lean, but there's clearly no smocking gun in there...

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/jury-sees-conflicting-evidence-michael-180759894.html

Good luck trying to convict a lawyer for their billing habits... unless the charge is overbilling...

The billing exposed his lie to the FBI.

Funny, I would have used another word in front of 'whelming' to describe this entire case....

    It's a sideshow of a sideshow about a one-man national security risk...

They could find no witness who said Sussmann was sent to the FBI on behalf of the Clinton campaign or the Tech guy....

They also didn't prove that knowledge of how this information was gathered would have impacted the FBI response...

You have some lawyer billing records that prove he did SOME work for the Clinton campaign, but nothing tied directly to that meeting...

Little surprised they didn't verdict on Friday, but that would be rude...

The specific time of his FBI meeting was billed to the campaign, and he billed the campaign for the thumb drives he gave to the FBI.

He bought multiple sets of drives in Sept and didn't bill them them all to the campaign. The prosecution couldn't tie those he did bill to the campaign to the FBI visit...

    Holes Holes Holes...

What's in the "billing records"? Not something you're familiar with, because if you'd known anything about them, you would've mentioned them much earlier.

So, what do these compelling pieces of evidence say, and how does that mean Sussman "lied" to the FBI?

    i.e. why is this "material"?

~ If Durham was serious about getting an impartial jury he would have moved the trial out of D.C. What else can we expect from this " show of shows" but an acquittal. :???:'

I'm not here to be your personal daily briefer, if you are going to discuss the subject go get up to speed on it and read what happened at trial and the evidence presented. Although people here have already told you.

In other words, you don't know, and can't formulate your own thoughts on the issue. How unusual.

Tell me, if you can, how time records "prove" that Sussman "lied" about such a material issue.
