Teachers should learn the necessary skills or practice another profession. It's called choice.

This thing keeps happening over and over under Abott, so people have the right to ask soem questions about his handling of it, especially when he has nothing to offer except "thoughts & prayers & victim counseling".

There are mass killings because of family feuds, drug cartels, ... war. But ONLY in the United States can a kid go to a store, buy an assault weapon and shoot kids in an elementary school, or a supermarket, or a High School, or a State Fair, or a rock concert, or... anywhere they damn please.

And those who water it down by equating it to a drug cartel war, instead of participating in the solution, hold a share of the blame.

 

When criminals can buy machine guns and hand grenades in the UK and Sweden you know that can get anything they like at any Alice's Restaurant in the USA.

 

Frack drugs. I'm worried about people shooting massive groups of people with guns and you can't do that unless you have a gun. Eliminate the guns and that problem will disappear.

 

There is a natural preference for "simple" answers. Complexity requires too much thought.

 

I wanted to give you a more thorough response. Here's my attempt at being "****ING HONEST" and addressing your post:

I wasn't trying to "twist" anything. I was trying to point out that, depending on the circumstances of the attack, other weapons are sometimes more effective than firearms.

Something like 2/3 of homicides in the USA are with a gun, and overwhelmingly a handgun, not a rifle or shotgun. A lot of that is because they're concealable, despite their numerous other inferior characteristics when compared with a modern sporting rifle, because criminals don't generally want to get caught, but there are probably other facts like price, availability, etc. It's also a lot "easier" to squeeze a trigger towards someone than, for example, beat them to death with a baseball bat or stab them to death with a screwdriver (although people do a fair bit of those two as well)

At a minimum, someone would have to persuasively make the case that me giving up my guns would put a stop to mass killings. But they can't, because whether I give up my guns or not, we'll still have mass killings. I wouldn't say I'm "okay with" the mass killings, but I do recognize that me giving up my guns is not going to solve that problem.

You should get out more. There's a whole big internet out there chock full of stubborn people. And beyond that, in the real world, stubborn people are all over the place.

You can not "eliminate the guns". What part of that don't you understand? It's not an option available to you or anyone. FFS Canada (yes, frickin' anti-gun Canada) can't even "eliminate the guns" from their prisons!

A mass shooting is a mass shooting. Ain't it?

Mexico has gun laws on the same level of England and Australia. And very little in the way of law enforcement. Why is the murder rate in Mexico way higher than it is in The United States?

 

An idyllic "daydream" for this country would be LESS access to guns. Which would mean LESS criminals and malevolent creatures killing LESS people. Like they have in countries where these shootings are almost unheard of: UK, Australia, Japan...
