Will never happen because they know people like me will vote their sorry asses out if they try.

I love how you expect us to give up EVERYTHING and you’re not willing to compromise in any way with what we want. Hilarious.

BTW they know what you’re doing too. So they’re not going to support it lol

You have managed to make the worse possible counter argument. The guns are not the problem. The problem is the person behind the gun. We need to somehow make the schools less attractive targets. I like the concept of arming teachers except protection would become a part time job and a professional body guard needs to be a full time profession. I am not convinced that you could train the teachers well enough and bringing weapons into a school by someone who is not a professional is not a good idea. It is too easy to make mistakes such as inadvertently leaving the weapon where a student could get access to it.

Maybe making it a smart weapon might work but I would much prefer it be done by a full time professional or multiple full time professionals.

However it is done, it must be done in such a way that the armed guard is not in the wrong place. Apparently there were armed guards there, but they were not in the right location to stop it.

@Golem thanks for sticking to the issue in your OP and not turning it into a Republican bashing flame thread. Very refreshing to see!
I do agree it should be harder to obtain weapons like this.
    @Condor060
I grew up in an age where there were still some remnants of corporal punishment. I didn’t get spanked or anything but had to stand in a corner for 2 hours a few times (Catholic school)
Also if o got in a teachers face they weren’t scared to do their job and physically remove me from the class.
    It never deterred me.
When I got in trouble with the parents I would always hope the punishment was physical instead of something way more damaging (like no video games for a week)
I would purposely egg them on knowing if I caught a smack to the face they would have some guilt and not do the punishments I feared the most (loss of doing fun things!)
While I don’t agree with that part of your post you do make some excellent points with regards to coddling
Which in my opinion breeds over entitlement

the worst punishment I ever got from the parents was not a beating, but them not getting me a moped they said they would get me because o drank one night
There I was from age 15 to 17 watching the other kids on mopeds while I couldn’t drive anything until turning 17

    Im still feeling that pain!

Exactly what I said! I believe there could be in the future Republicans in government who care more about the life of children than about the vote of those who don't care...

No see because the republicans recognize the same thing I do. That giving up your ability to defend yourself will only result in more and worse tragedies than what happened in that school.

Far more people have been killed as a result of giving up their right to firearms than EVER will be through crime. And it’s not even close.

No need for absurd or irrelevant arguments, you have already covered that in spades.

After you ban the devices called guns, and the killers move to bombs and other means, you can figure out how to ban those- and the one that follows, and the one that follows, etc.
IF AND WHEN you ever realize that no gun, knife, club or rock becomes a murder weapon until a murderer picks it up, then you might be able to understand what need banning.
Until then it's just more Golem horse-puckey.

Like alcohol and pot, once the genie is out of the bottle, it never returns.
Most of the 400 million plus firearms in the United States are unlicensed (unregistered) and untraceable. It has been that way for decades, hundreds of years.

the murders in chicago, in 1920 or 2020 prohibition eras are capitalists settling disputes over territory, customers, or debts.

the mass shootings of the later 20th/21st centuries are not so clearly motivated, at least not in that sense of capitalist competition.

The point was that prohibition has never worked, and never will work. We can't even keep drugs and weapons out of prisons...

golem: Countries have done the contrary (Australia, UK, Japan, ...etc) and it HAS worked.

Will it work here, nope, but don't claim it doesn't work.

Great point! Let's outlaw people! That would certainly protect their 2nd Amendment rights. Who gives a crap about the 4th Amendment, right?

Under your plan, do politicians still get armed protection?

I was raised on military air bases until 7th grade then public schools. I can tell you from experience, you would have feared my fathers punishments. Not to mention my PE teachers (Coaches) who handled paddling's in our school.
I went to HS with myself and friends with guns in the back windows of our trucks. We all carried knives and not once did we ever hear of any school shootings. Today these kids have absolutely no fear of any retaliation from anyone. Its easy to tell as they have become adults terrorizing cities and destroying property then get upset for more riots if someone confronts cops and winds up shot.

This is a multi generation of entitled brats who have never been told no and have no idea how to handle the real world when they don't get their way. Which is why you have seen increases in shootings and riots year after year and it will continue until these kids are handled properly.

Let's see one of these nuts waiting to turn 18 and prepar bomb for his grandmother and then another one to try to kill 21 people in a school. More likely he'll blow HIMSELF up in the process.

Anyway... read the part in bold.

This is the second time you've made that hypothetical assumption. At least that I have seen.

You know bombs are not terribly complicated to make in the internet is full of instructions right?

Weren't there propane tank bombs at Sandy Hook that failed to blow the shooters up?

How about we start with taking criminals off the street? If they're too dangerous to own guns, then they're too dangerous not to be in jail
