The left is thoroughly projecting here. Likely and predictably an emotional reaction to their propaganda around the Jan 6 protest that irrationally deem an insurrection attempt.

Here's some breaking news on the pre 1/6 GOP Capitol tour service... it's not a smocking gun until they tie an individual to events on 1/6, but it's a start and caught the GOP in yet another falsehood over that day......

A House Republican lawmaker acknowledged on Thursday bringing a “constituent family” into the Capitol complex a day before rioters breached the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after the select committee investigating the attack called on him to address evidence that he’d brought a group inside a Capitol office building.

Hours earlier on Thursday, the Jan. 6 select committee’s chair, Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), and vice chair, Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), requested an interview with Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) next week, contending that its review of evidence preceding the riot contradicted claims by him and other GOP lawmakers that no such tours had taken place.

Loudermilk did not explain why he didn’t disclose the tour over the past 16 months, nor did he indicate whether he would appear, but he emphasized, in a joint statement with Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), that no member of the group he led “has been investigated or charged in connection to January 6th.”

I just hope that the voters can remember the things Trump was responsible for and We learn our lesson when we voted Trump out and Biden in. We could have another January 6 happen or worse if Trump were to try to get in. This country cannot survive If this country were run by a slew of Trumpies.

This is another story where I can see both sides.....

I want DOJ to get everything they need to prosecute those responsible for 1/6 itself and for any other potential crimes against the Constitution for the overturning attempts.

OTOH, the Committee has done a lot of work, pushing uphill against a lot of resistance, with little to no assistance from the DOJ (Meadows referral anybody??)

I would imagine if the DOJ tailored their requests to certain witness testimony or documents, they'd find a much more receptive audience.

I also imagine the DOJ will eventually get everything they want/need.

Anybody have any thoughts on this mini standoff?

 

There will be tensions flaring and things won't be going as easy as they want to. How will the DOJ get Trump to show up at these events anyway? Trump cause a lot of mischief and plenty of grief during that time and Trump and those associated with him should pay the price for what happened on that day. It isn't eight on what Trump did and there was a potential lynching on Pence. Would that be considered the right thing to do? I don't think so. Trump doesn't deserve to be President of the United States ever again and I mean it.

 

If's he's actually indicted by the DOJ for seditious conspiracy (or whatever), he'll show up to arraignment and trial, or plead guilty if offered that option.

If he doesn't, he's a fugitive from justice and can be arrested on the spot

We aren't there yet...

Remember, there are a LOT of people who were working with and for T**** in these actions. As always, if you can get them, you can get the big fish

A current story is that Eastman has T**** written "notes" on their overthrow plan that he is trying to withhold.... Those could be very interesting!

You're right we're not there but there is that possibility that if and when we do get there, Trump will be on the spot for sure and it will be interesting on what he does and/or how he will handle it. It will be something to see.

 

Lmao imagine thinking there is evidence of seditious conspiracy for Trump lol. That is some serious desperation. No one actually believes that, the reality is there is no evidence of it. It was a fiery but mostly peaceful protest of no consequence. People made their own decisions.

 

It is rather astonishing to see how some will minimize, normalize really bad group violent behavior.........and use friendly euphemisms to describe it.While denying the reality of what happened.by giving it a more tolerant name or adjective.

IOW......... that suggests a full support of medieval violent behavior against the gov't..........if the voting results do't suit them.

Where is the civility in that?? Sore losers on display for the world t o see. and Now over a year later.........they still quibble over semantics and obstruct the progress of the investigation..........

According to the draft schedule, the June public hearings will explore Trump’s efforts to overturn the election, starting and ending with prime-time hearings at 8pm on the 9th and the 23rd. In between, the panel will hold 10am hearings on the 13th, 15th, 16th and 21st.

The select committee appears to be planning for the hearings to be extensive affairs. The prime-time hearings are currently scheduled to last between 1.5 and 2 hours and the morning hearings between 2 and 2.5 hours.

A select committee member will lead each of the hearings, the sources said, but top investigative lawyers who are intimately familiar with the material will primarily conduct the questioning of witnesses to keep testimony tightly on track.

And I wonder why there isn't more coverage of Loudermilk. He blatantly lied in his original statement, and even went so far as to request an investigation into the Representatives that wanted to see the 'tours' investigated.

 

The hangup now is that while he claims he did give a tour to a family, including kids (completely against Congressional rules at the time), they never entered the Capitol itself, which was what Sherill and others claimed they saw.

Still TBD... but I did have to laugh at this part of the denial statement

And of course the right will make a meal out of the media's mention of the red ball caps worn by the 'tourists'. Loudermilk brought it up himself, saying that there were no tours, and certainly no one wearing red maga hats. Its just too funny!
