Australia has had one mass shooting in the 26 years since passing a National Firearms Agreement. Japan, Norway, and the UK all have stringent gun control laws and minimal gun-related deaths. The US has seen over 200 mass shootings so far this year. Robb Elementary School was the 27th school shooting this year.

The level of hatred has escalated to such a level, that not 'everyone' who would be at this event, would be considered 'the good guys'.

 

I get the point you're trying to make here. If the good guys attending the speech were allowed to carry guns they can eliminate the threat from any bad guy with a gun. That's sound logic and should be the logic applied in most scenarios. But the problem with that is that one bad guy can get off a good shot and kill the President before the good guys can kill the bad guy. That's too high of a risk. Trump is not a nobody, he's not just any high schooler, we wouldn"t want to risk him getting shot even if we can kill the bad guy after the shot.

 

Not true because there is always the chance of someone like the Texas shooter.

Now, if the circumstances were different and they allowed guns, you can bet that no one would dare shoot Trump.

'Good Guys' don't use guns because they suspect someone of doing something bad. They usually respond. In this particular case, The pre-emptive position is that no one carry a fire arm.

This is a silly thread. The Secret Service is responsible for the safety of presidents and former president. The office holder himself does not have much of a voice in how that protection happens. Trump could scream from the rooftops that he wants guns at his rally (he probably doesn't want them,) but SS would still say, "nu uh."

The Secret Service is not the NRA. Don't confuse the two.
