Police are generally indifferent about crime. The police exist in the main as a form of social control to protect the few who are wealthy from the overwhelming majority who lack any wealth. Just look at how the police responded to the shooting in Texas. They waited outside for 40 minutes while the teenage gunman went on his rampage against little kids. They could have done more.

    Welcome to Texas.

A place where guns are glorified but where policemen are terrified of being shot.

If the report is true that the first cops on the campus failed to quickly enter the school building then they should be fired. Period.

    This represents all Texas cops?
    How do you know this?
Did you interview every police officer in the state of Texas?

Being afraid of being shot is a normal reflex.

    That's the irony.

When you live in a place where guns are omnipresent, the fear of dying by being shot is constant.

Police officers have families too, and you can't blame them for taking cover when a madman shoots at them.

This is not an inaccurate statement. They all want to go home (whole) at the day's end.

The parents of the children were begging the police to go in. One father asked for a gun and body armor so he could go in himself.

    This father will never recover.

The husband of one of the slain teachers died of a heart attack yesterday.

    Their 4 children are orphans.

From what I have read some were initially shot and the shooter was barricaded which is why those who followed along elected to secure the perimeter, keep parents at bay, and wait until someone arrived who could do their thing taking him down. More details will come out in time to give us a clearer picture.

It was the same in Australia, Canada, Europe etc...

However, they managed to solve the problem.

If you've never been an LEO or military service member who has trained or done these things in real life you look like a complete idiot pretending you know how these things work.

If I came into people's jobs and looked at their desk and started making important decisions no one would take that seriously either, but here we are.

Im not against some of that but that’s prevention
What if they get the gun anyway? Like in “strict gun control” chicago? you think all those thugs are getting their guns at cabella’s?
Let’s assume we ban all guns and a shooter manages to get one. How do we stop the ACTIVE shooter with as minimal casualties as possible?

That is why we must (MUST) station real police officers in American public schools and arm them to the teeth. This 'milque-toast' crap of having "School Resource Officers" who aren't real POLICE OFFICERS is nothing but useless idiocy. The children and the teachers don't need any more 'social workers' -- THEY NEED PROTECTION!

[IMG]. Yes... it HAS come to 'this'....

    Really?

Then I think that the laws are ineffective to solve this problem.

So we need more guns to solve it?

Would be better if FEDs weren't encouraging, financing, and not giving intel on these people. Crazy how the shooter in Buffalo and Uvalda had assistance from a FED or they managed several thousands of dollars without any work history to support it.

A society that has to protect its schools with armed guards, armed teachers and armored doors against crazy citizens who have easy access to guns is a sick society.

No country in the West except the US has agreed to turn schools into bunkers.

They have all decided to take drastic measures to control guns with spectacular results.

No we need to start identifying school shooters before they start shooting. Gun laws are meaningless to murderers. You know that.

You could easily remove certain elements in society which doesn't involve the guns themselves and have crime lower than European countries. Blaming it squarely on a device rather than the person is foolish. Next we'll have some dumb UK campaign about binning our knifes as people start resorting to stabbing people. Founders never wanted us to be defenseless nor will we ever be.
